He was the good one wasn't he? What a dick.

Bridgers was paid more than $50,000 over a period of more than a year, and never finished all of the work, investigators allege. The victim finally paid another contractor to finish the work, investigators allege.
Investigators also allege that Bridgers didn't have a contractor's license, which is required for anyone doing any job that costs more than $7,500.

What the frick is it with contractors? Biggest bunch of losers I have ever met. Don’t show up on time, don’t show up at all, can’t meet a deadline, don’t understand budgets, think 85% done is done.

It almost seems absolute that if you deal with a contractor, even a purported one, you're gonna get screwed.

I really wish Louisiana would handle contractor licensing the same way Texas does. Our contractor board is a joke of epic proportions with only their own self serving interest at heart.

There is so much money to be in construction if you're A) good at your craft and B) worth a frick as a human being.

The guy sounds like a shitbag, but that doesn't sound out of the ordinary for the contractor world.

The issue is no one writes clear cut contracts with draw points clearly defined. I always did and never had issues. If I wanted a draw I had to meet the points clearly defined in the contract. It's a way to keep either party from being too far ahead of the other.

Isn’t the head of la’s contractors board a convicted felon?

I almost agree with you. An issue is most folks don't know to do that, and won't pay a lawyer like me a couple hours time to make sure it's done correctly on the front end.
The bigger issue is thieves are gonna thieve.

We apparently these two ding dongs weren’t contractors. Just posers.
Was that the douchebag Cajun navy guy or the non douchebag Cajun navy guy?

What do you have against Mallett? He frequents a restaurant in BR I worked for so I knew him through that. I know he’s on that board, LSU board of supervisors, owns technical school and has a pre-fab metal building business but I don’t know him as a person well

Texas doe not require a state license for general building construction. Only HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical.

I know. They leave it up to the local municipalities and their reasoning behind that is they don't want to impede commerce. I think it's a great policy.
ETA: Our board makes policies to stifle their competition. Not serve the public despite what they say.
