I would argue that tires that are designed to be retreads for long haul truck service and airline service are a much different animal that the OP is getting from "Tire recappers of Nashville, Inc."

Like anything, find a reputable manufacturer. There is no information to suggest retreads are less safe than new.

I think retreads shoud be illegal. Most blowouts from turckers and those tire pieces on the roadways are from retreads. You don't see them much in passenger vehicles though. No where near as safe as new, your speed rating is much lower and when they fail, they fail big.

You posted enough quotes that I can safely assume most, if not all were tests sponsored by retread sellers. But hey, if you got to pinch pennies, you do you. I'll be comfortable in my new tires with actual warranties.

You do realize that on these truck and airline tires there are different designs, components, compounds, and curing processes. I know a little something about the processes and that might make me bias toward never purchasing a retreaded tire. Obviously you've had great success and saved good money, but if one tire fails all of that money will be paid out in either, vehicle damages, healthcare, liability for other vehicles, so on and so forth. Obviously I can't deter you from the purchase of the tires so I would say good luck and safe travels

tl;dr: Cad and Roger think retreads are worth the $150 in savings. Everyone else says otherwise. Cad and Roger say they're safe because airplanes and 18-wheelers use retreads. Everyone else says otherwise. General consensus: Everything is assumed, truth is unknown but not worth the risk.
