I am building my first ever house right now and not once was I asked what race I am. Hell, I never met the lender, just spoke to the rep on the phone a few times.


But, yeah...all race....definitely not because I pay my bills/loans to keep a good credit rating.

Strange that paying bills on time and saving money isn't the norm.

I don't have a mortgage though, it's the one issue I have affecting my credit negatively. My credit scores (according to credit karma) are north of 750 though.

Yep. When I worked in a bank and did a credit application, race was never a factor under consideration. I can say without a doubt that a vast, vast majority of the applications I made for black applicants were declined because of a poor credit score (high number of delinquent payments, lien, etc.) At that point, it's on them, not the banks.
