A credit score does not see their color of the skin. It seems the content of their financial past/present.

I've defended a few cases where this type of flawed statistical analysis was the basis of a discrimination case. They get heaved out of court very quickly.

Plaintiff:

"The workplace is 1.4% black and the local population is 14.3% black."

Defendant:

"The workplace is 1.4% black and the qualified workforce population is 1.2% black."

Case over.

They need to compare creditworthy black applicants to credit worthy white applicants.

not to sidetrack, but for folks under 40 this is decreasingly the case.

Mobility and freedom = American dream. Not tied down to a house/mortgage.

I've seen a lot of instances of discrimination in my labor/employment law practice.

Restaurant in Texas catches a black employee stealing. Fires the other three black women who worked there on the premise of "if one steals, they all steal." I don't do much employee work, and I was skeptical when the women told me what happened. I participated in the unemployment hearing, and the restaurant franchise owner confirmed what happened.

To the restaurant chain's credit, they reacted quickly when I reported it. They terminated the franchise and rehired the three women. It was a small town restaurant, and all the women wanted was their jobs back. Everything ended up fine.

Getting food stamps is easier if you're black or Hispanic.

My evidence is I was denied food stamps by a racist food stamp office because I was white.

Didn't realize there was an exact definition to the "American Dream"

Do you mind showing me the stats on all races who had the exact same income, credit score, and income?

fricking race baiting media like CNN.

The American dream is working for something and making our dreams come true. It's not being here with crappy credentials and getting stuff handed to you.

As a lender I assure you its based on debt to income ratio and credit scores. Lets talk about those credit scores and who pays their borrowed money back. Fair lending laws are in place to prevent lending based on sex and race.

I wonder what the average credit scores were, as well as income.

But, yeah, it's race.

This country has an abysmal history of intentionally impeding black home ownership...why would it be hard to believe there are still remnants of that?

The study found that white people who apply for a conventional mortgage are denied just over 10% of the time.

By contrast, blacks who apply for the same loans are denied nearly 28% of the time, while Hispanics are denied 22% of the time.

I can't wait to see what the solution to this "problem" is.

Maybe deduct points from your credit score if you're white or Asian?

Because it's not true. It's retarded. You're Income, credit to debt, credit score and last two years tax returns are the only things that determine your mortgage options in 2015.

What happened in Birmingham, Alabama 50 years ago means dick to any lending institutions underwriting. Stop being stupid.

Not if you can't afford it. Ask the millions of people who had their home foreclosed on.

People think they can get a mortgage that's about the same price as renting but don't factor in the extra expenses.

If you own a home there's no landlord to call when a pipe breaks or your ac goes out or you need a new roof.
