Oh no! Sorry to hear that.

Sorry redstick. Had to put my Lab down last month. It's still brutal for me.
If my hot water does not return Christmas may be relocating for me. That is going to be tough.

Pro Tip for you baws. If your dishwasher has a delay setting like mine (subtle brag)
Set a 4-6 hour delay before you go to sleep so you have water running through your pipes during the coldest part of the night.

Whoever the plumber was when my house was built is a moron.. They set up the hot water pipes to go to the bathrooms direct and the HW pipes that go to the kitchen sink last.. So it takes the tub about 15 seconds to get hot and the kitchen sink about 2 minutes..
Same.
The bathrooms got hot water quick and the kitchen sink took 2-3 minutes. We got one of those small tank, under the sink water heaters.
Been nice but actually wish I’d have splurged for a tankless water heater for under the kitchen sink - to free up space.

PEX can indeed freeze and burst. However, it has much better expand ability (versus copper,PVC, & CPVC) and will return to original state once thawed. But can burst in the right circumstances.

cover the exposed lines with wool furniture blankets.
Thanks! I have some insulation I can put in it the trick is just getting there with any warm clothes on. I have a really low pitch roof and the spot I found the 90 is about 1’ from roof to joist in old fiberglass insulation.
Hoping the sun warms the attic some and thaws the line out.

That will only keep water running through your hot water line to the dishwasher. Will do nothing for cold water lines or to branches like to outside spigot, sinks, toilets, etc.

Any concern about the Pex fittings failing?

Another option is get a can of spray foam and just fill the cavity around the fitting.

But then new cold water would have to flow into the water heater, right?

Depending on how the water lines are set up it can. My cold runs into the house on one side, to the furthest point in the house to the water heater, then back through the house on the hot side. As long as I run any hot water the entire house keeps moving. Now that doesn’t account for the branches, but it keeps my main line flowing.

I’m all good but my water system isn’t. We woke up to no water. Who knows how long it’ll take to repair

So far so good here on Magnolia, TX.
Currently 22 degrees.
Slab single story. Dripped hot and cold all night.

Poor puppy.
No slowing down of water pressure yet. We’re off the ground with PEX so we just dripped hot water.

Do yourselves a favor.
Before you go to bed set your dishwasher to run on a timer as well as your washing machine.
They'll kick on and circulate water while you sleep.
It'll run the hot and cold.
The incandescent 40watt hanging work lights are nice to have to keep your faucets warm and dry. Especially those in the yard. If you use a white bucket you can look out and see that white bucket is glowing to know its on
May help you out.

She was a good pooch. I took her in from a poster on the OB after Hurricane Laura.

Pier and Beam - refrigerator water line froze and It is insulated. It’s Pex - so I got down there and thawed it out in just a few minutes with a hair dryer.

Welp
Just figured out the cold water line to my washing machine is frozen. Same line froze during the last arctic blast when it got down to 1°
Pulled the washer out and put a heater facing the wall. That worked last time.
*crossed fingers the line holds up

Empty your ice bin a few times a day and keep the water circulating

So I think I isolated the hot water problem. We have several attics, no humble brag, well a small one. Tankless is located in the one attic that is ice cold. So I am working to get the attic temp up.
