And while the Leg. bitches about their hands being tied by it, there are, what, 3 new dedications on the October ballot? And I bet they all pass. It's insane.

Baton Rouge is doomed. Government is spending money irresponsibly, there's a mayor who is in over her head and finally the only demographic with money is leaving in droves.

The only hope is to find a way to get Kip back. He was the only one who in recent memory could cross party and racial lines to make a difference. Instead we elect SWB. Now Sharon and C Denise Marcelle and Gravy and Tara Wicker are making a run at the powers that be here. If there was one way to drown a metropolitan area faster than tax hungry democrats at the helm of a white flight mecca, I couldn't possibly imagine it.

As far as I'm concerned, they can have it. I'm getting the frick out as soon as I possibly can. Good luck to all of you left in the wastelands. Because you're gonna desperately need it.

dont know what this is, but if it doesn't involve overlaying Govt. Street its a total waste of time/money.

They want to overlay government street and change the configuration from a 4 lane road with no turn lanes to a 2 lane road with a continuous center turn lane - which would actually make it flow better than it does today.

The people who live along that corridor are fully behind the plan.

I'm not. The traffic issue would be horrendous just due to all the CATS bus stops. There is zero benefit to the road diet plan that could not be accomplished more cheaply and efficiently via bike lanes and sidewalk improvements on Capitol Heights and/or Claycut.

So, run away, that's your answer?

There are many things to love about La and stay to fight for.

North Street peters out just past Acadian. North Blvd dead-ends at foster. Claycut is closed at Foster. People use government to get to jefferson and goodwood. It's a major east/west artery.

Also, the city needs to fix the badly timed light cycle on Florida by the General Hospital.

I drove on I-12 between Essen and O'Neal for the first time in a while the other day. Mother of God. That's one of the most chewed up stretches of interstate I think I've ever driven on.

yes, I was speaking to surface streets only.
The interstate system hear is also an abortion. If you want to know what driving on a lunar landscape feels like, traverse I10 between Henderson and I49. It would be laughable if it wasn't so sad.

how ironic, coming from the shitstain rag of publication that endorsed and pushed hard for SWB's election.

And now, they're telling us we are falling behind.

They've studied the route and think that a two lane road with a center turn lane wouldn't cause traffic tie ups

They didn't take into account increased car volumes due to Claycut being closed. They factored in taking the CATS busses off the street which has already been taken aback. It's a terrible terrible idea. It just means that everyone will be stuck behing empty CATS busses idling at empty bus stops instead of changing lanes to avoid potholes and left turners.

It's impossible to stay and fight for our vision of this city/state, when we are being outbreeded by people who don't hold our same values and work ethic dearly. We are being replaced by fundamentally different people.
I will keep working and saving money, and move out of BR when a good time comes.
