I only kill mosquitoes and roaches. Non stinging/biting/vermin bugs I will let them outside.

I used to also kill house centipedes, but I've read they are great for pest control, even though they are creepy as frick.

This reminds me of one of the few nice things about living in a colder urban environment compared to warm weather: don't really have to deal with bugs.

I've killed one spider in 2 1/2 years, but otherwise, I haven't seen any bugs ever in my place.

It felt like I was killing something nearly every day when I lived in Georgia.

we're out in the country and in the summer with the outdoor lights on, some creepy arse shite shows up.

i love the walking sticks and praying manthis..creepy as frick when you get a couple big ones. i like to pretend they're part of our home security.

carpenter bees drive me nuts. i literally feel my teeth grate on edge when i hear one at work and cant find the fricker.

Oh, don't get me wrong: the rural Midwest can be awful for some of that stuff. The worst mosquitoes I've ever seen were in rural Minnesota and rural Michigan during the summer. Just brutal.

It's the combination of both being both colder than hell and being in a very urban environment. The cold kills off certain kinds of bugs, and the density keeps a lot of the others out.

Supposedly, mosquitoes are bad here according to some who have looked into it, but I wonder what methodology they use because it is far better in the city here than anywhere else I've lived.

Edit: maybe it's just my bias because I am legit arachnophobic, and I've seen hardly any spiders here. It's too cold for recluses and widows, for starters.

Killing some things is helpful sometimes man. Take yourself for example.

I kill roaches, wasps, mosquitos, flies, gnats, and reluctantly, scorpions. Everything else is probably safe.

There was this huge spider in my apartment that I killed a while back that I felt a little bad about killing too. I should have just caught and released, but I got scared. Once animals get a certain size I guess I feel a little bad, especially if I'm not getting any use out of it.

I don't really mind big spiders, especially if they're down in the basement. It's the little black and brown ones that don't live too long in my house.

Moths I try to set free when I find them in the house. Dragonflies as well, though it's only happened once.

Kind of related, one time a ladybug landed on the frame of my glasses while I was walking across campus. I refrained from slapping my face out of shock. It flew off a minute or so later. Now I realize I should've taken a photo.

The American dream, Christmas, greek life, etc.

My office has a ladybug problem and I spend half my day flipping these incompetent frickers over so they can go on their way.

As I type this

That doesn't stop me from killing things. Of course, I'm more of a southern liberal/west coast moderate. I thought I was liberal. But after a few months in Boulder, Co, I'm definitely not liberal, just rational.

Long live lady bugs.
The mosquitoes around here will start filing flight plans in about 6-8 weeks and we will devote most of our effort towards making sure they don't kill us.

Ladybugs and butterflies. I don't sweat killing most other beetles or moths. Certainly not the pest bugs like flies and skeeters.

Is it common to have ladybug infestations in offices? My office has a ladybug problem too, and I had never even heard of this before.
