Do you think, with these recent record low temps, a lot of the bugs will be killed off and we'll see less of them come spring/summer?

No, I’ve been cultivating mosquitos for years in my garage. I’ve specifically bred them to bite as much as possible and I’ve been waiting for a time to release them.

Minnesota is known for their huge mosquito population.

So, no, don't expect a reprieve from those little bastards.

Considering mosquitoes live about a week I'm guessing they'll be able to shake this off

Mosquito eggs can survive freezing.

I've read Mosquitoes eggs die at sub zero temperatures, but survive below freezing temps.

Lack of moisture would have a greater impact than a week of cold weather.

I doubt your ground froze deep enough to get the bugs in your area.

Not mosquitoes, but I am hoping it will affect the damn fleas. For some reason when we moved a few year ago, the new yard was absolutely covered in fleas. My poor dog got eaten up and we had to switch flea meds on her and my legs would be absolutely covered every time I cut grass when we first got there. I've had to have it treated by the pest control guy that sprays my place every spring for the past few years. He told me a really cold spell or a below average winter season will definitely lower their numbers.
