Aplin told Texas Monthly magazine he had plans to grow across the Southeast using the same formula that made Buc-ee’s so popular in Texas: building stores between major driving markets such as Atlanta, Nashville, Birmingham and Charlotte.

Building the world's largest convenience store in Sevierville, TN. Over 74,000 square feet and 120 pumps the over 200 acre "Gateway to Adventure" site. The site will also include a world class golf facility, go-kart track and distillery.

If they do go to Louisiana... they need to plop down in Crowley... NW side of the eastern I-10 exit, right across I-10 from the Wal-Mart.

Printing money.

So why'd you start the thread?

Because unlike you apparently, I don’t find it necessary to be a fan boy of a gas station to ask an obvious question that must be asked about why a company so beloved by so many people in Louisiana would choose to avoid the state like the plague.

I don’t have to be a groupie to notice something else is going on that is causing them to avoid Louisiana like they have.

You could also do Slidell with the 1-10-/1-12/1-55 interchange....It makes more sense than a Casino

Not with one going up 25 miles east.

Nah, Buc-ees would be due for a location somewhere much closer to Baton Rouge, and given the handout-demanding culture of Louisiana, they'll probably just opt for billboards every 30 miles past Baton Rouge reminding drivers to stop at the first exit in Texas to get some delicious jerkey.

Because Louisiana is a shithole, and if you can do business anywhere outside of that states boundaries or control, you take that opportunity.

Buc-ee's wants large incentives wherever they go.

LA wants to get a kickback.

It's 354 miles from Baytown Buc-ees to Menge Ave.

They could probably put one in LA and not sacrifice much business from either Baytown or the Menge location.

But they seem pissed. That's the thing about private owned companies... piss off the owner and he can hold a grudge as long as he's in control...

Because in Louisiana most folks would stop at Billy's, On The Run or local joint for a link of boudin or some boudin balls, or at the French Market or Chevron for meat pies

Buc-ee's sells everything. No reason they can't make / sell boudin.

And that’s a valid point, and what I was shooting at. I would agree as well.

I’ve got a friend that lives within 1/2 mile of the planned Bucees in MS. He and his wife are all excited. My guess is the end up moving within a year of the grand opening.

Yeah, I live about 20 minutes away.

They'll improve the intersection, definitely, but bucees will absolutely destroy that area. My wife's family owns property nearby, and we've toyed with the idea of building there, but I don't know now.

I do think it will be good for property values in the area, especially combined with the fact that the nearby town of Long Beach is making a major land grab right now, and that town is so bad with money that it could fit in well in Louisiana.

Right. Because your overly processed lips and a-hole bologna sandwich makes you superior than someone stopping for a fresh chopped brisket taco. I can't figure out if you try to play the contrarian role for attention or if you're just really fricking stupid. Maybe it's both.

I personally think the whole Buc-ee’s phenomenon is more than just a little strange

All people want, are clean restrooms. Buc-ee's does that, and they reap the rewards.

Great question to pose to your governor.
Does Dumbbell still do his radio show on WRKF? I'd call in just to ask him this question.

It's not so much about Bucee's writ large. I mean they do have cheap gas, clean restrooms, and good eats. It's more about how emblematic this situation is with respect to this whole god-forsaken state.

I have family and land which will probably tie me here until death, but if I were an 18-22 year old with no ties, I'd carry my arse east, west, or north and have a better life because of it. As a bonus, I'd also be much more likely to end up with a Bucee's nearby...

Vote NO to Buc-ees. It'll make crime go up, we won't do anything productive with the tax revenues anyways, drugs would go up, buc-ees in arizona never delivered on promises made, i'm a business owner and i vote no.

LOL. What if that casino would have promised a Buc-ee's?

I’m not angry. I’m amused at it, but I do find an underlying tone of butt hurt in your comments. Are you a fan boy too, or is the fact that Louisiana is such a shithole that it cannot even attract a Buc-ee’s gas station something we shouldn’t bring up because it makes everyone feel bad that we live in such a place?

Shouldn’t the last part make everyone with any semblance of intelligence mad as hell regardless if it’s Buc-ee’s, Dave and Busters, or Insert Your Favorite Brand at play or another you cannot stand?

I think maybe you need to take a few steps back to get the bigger picture.

What "actual good food" can last all day in a car without needing to be in an ice chest and then somehow re-heated?

Most people don't have re-heating options available. so you are down to snacks and sandwiches.
