Option 1

NOLA needs to implement a
ZERO TOLERANCE on crime in the French Quarter. Armed robbery, muggings, animals attacking tourist...death penalty. Period.
Those thugs should get moved to the front of the line and the law needs to state that the execution will take place within 30 days of their crime.

Option 2
People and business groups need to start cancelling hotel reservations beginning TODAY until option 1 gets implemented.

frick that ghetto arse town.

It's sad that race plays such a huge role in the justice system. If this where white guys jumping black guys then it would make the news as a hate crime, but if it was black on black it wouldn't even make the news. As it stands now it will make the news but not be remembered in a week.

The root of this goes back to the destruction of the nuclear family. But instead of talking about that, and taking people to task for irresponsible behavior, we kick the can down the road and blame overwhelmed teachers and mean cops for the problems plaguing the black community. All the while ignoring the fact that only 2/10 black kids are raised within a typical family structure.

My question is, what can the general public do about this? There are way more smart good natured people of all races that want this to stop in any way possible. How can the police turn their small force into a large force by utilizing the general public? Money doesn't do the trick, because Mitch the bitch will use it for his own personal gain, so what else can the police or general public do to empower the rest of the 99% of the community to eradicate this scum?

And to say that it is comes across as just another excuse for NOLA as if to say "no big deal, this happens everywhere" is a part of the problem with New Orleans...acceptance of a shitty situation by the citizens of the city.

The best and worst thing about New Orleans is that people generally don't give a shite.

That's probably the most apt summary of New Orleans I've ever read. Enjoy the upvote, and just know that I plan on plagiarizing this from time to time.

Sad, but true. As a lifelong resident, there are areas that you just learn to avoid. I work downtown during the week, but you'll never catch me down here or in the quarter unless I have to be. The quarter is clearly not safe even in populated areas anymore.

carrying would not have done shite for the guy in critical condition.

Not only that, these animals would now have a weapon to play with.

If you're in Nola, you're going to be going to bars. Most CC permit holders follow the law and don't bring their weapons into bars. These animals know this and its open season.

LOL you know nothing about our criminal justice system. Mainly the DAs office

If you will notice, there are very few Att Murder charges and convictions and a shite ton of Agg Assaults.... I don't know if there is a big difference in th sentencing guidelines but I know if you shoot someone, you will probably plea out t Agg Assult and not Att Murder. Maybe it's just that much easier for a conviction, but I will tell almost every shooting turns into Aggravated assault.

I know someone that got out recently after only doing 3 years for aggravated assault. And they pulled a gun and shot someone with the intentions to kill them.... but street justice did him in. He wasn't out long before he was gunned down while pumping gas. (These types of situations is a big reason in the recent uptick)

Can you bring a weapon into a bar if you are not drinking? Not trying to bait anything, I am not a CC so I do not know (also have nothing against CC). I am sure at some point I will be, I just haven't felt the need at this time.

I vote for option 1....We have 200 guest rooms and meeting rooms blocked at the Hilton Riverside for first week in October....I guess I will have to add "the common sense safety chapter" to our bulletin/schedule of events given to our attendees.

I believe think race plays a big role in the Orleans Parish justice system but its but all racial groups are being targeted by these feral domestic terrorists not just whites. Blacks probably represent an even larger percentage of victims because they live in the same areas or attend some of the same functions as these animals.

The bigger yet unspoken problem is the retaliation situation in the Orleans Parish criminal justice system. Not only will these feral animals take out witnesses to crime and/or their family members unimpeded but they will also take our jurors and their family members or they will target members of the criminal court system themselves. I've spoken with police officers who have dialed back policing because they and their families have been warned by these local feral animals that they will hunt them down and kill them or their families.

If you can't protect the witnesses, the prosecutors, court staff, NOPD officers, defense attorneys, and judges then don't expect them to go out on the limb and feel sorry for a victim solely because he is white.

The victims are made up of every racial group but Mitch Landrieu, creoles like Charbonnet, and racially divisive people like Cantrell use their agenda to promote racial identity politics to keep them in power because they don't want the caucasian's/Asians/Latinos/Middle Easterners/Indians teaming up with the upper & middle class African Americans to fix the broken system as it doesn't benefit either the black political class or the creole political class.

Why hasn't the BOLDs/SOULs/COUPs/etc political organizations ever questioned or pushed The Advocate or NOLA.com to investigate why Landrieu instituted the NOPD hiring freeze to begin with?

The people on the New Orleans Police Foundation & The MTC know why he instituted it as his family owns private security patrol interests. Instability in the police force means more $$$$ into private security detail business. Its one of the reasons that Landrieu pushed for the NOPD detail business to be part of the NOPD Consent decree with the Federal Gov't.

Anyway off on a OT Rant here but here is the truth of the matter NOLA economically peaked in 2012 and now we have a new outward migration of taxpayers and a significant decrease in convention business coming in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 because of two reasons Landrieu's new French Quarter Hotel tax and our reputation for conventioneers being mugged at conferences.

my wife is from NOLA as is her entire family. We used to make multiple trips to the city every year- concerts, Saints games, Fairgrounds to watch the ponies, just to spend some time in her home town. But even she has had enough. Its just not worth it.
Sad day when even my wife doesn't feel the risk is worth the reward.

You can be certain that the POS's have convictions on the rap sheet and have spent very little time in jail. They have probably figured out from a very young age that there will be no meaningful consequences for their actions. Someone will turn these people in. Hopefully they will get 10 or more years in jail each

the muggings alone is bad but that punch to the head should be a manslaughter charge minimum.
