The young man could go to the Sheriff’s office and file a complaint of battery. At that point the sheriff has to investigate once a complaint is filed and BRPD could not cover it up. At that point with the video evidence the officer would probably be charged with a battery.

No...sheriffs office wouldn't take the complaint.

They would tell him to go to BRPD and file the complaint.

Idk what led up to this point, but that dude must have been absolutely wasted to get punched in the face and barely even react.

It's funny how this board calling out the cop for this... if the guy was Black... all kind of excuses would be made for why the cop had to resort to punching with the power of a seven year old girl

Cop will definitely be getting disciplined if not terminated

What will keep this cop from being terminated is the fact that BRPD is so understaffed to begin with !!!!

If a normal citizen would be prosecuted for something like this then why should the cop get a free pass?

Because the police have the authority to arrest and are allowed to use force to effect that arrest.

Although it looks bad...it probably wont cross the line to excessive...since the guy was resisting and didnt seem like the punches had any affect.

And the punches were pretty pitiful.

Probably true, but I doubt Gravy and other black police brutality critics will speak up on this incident either.

Cop should’ve waited for backup to arrive. Why attempt to detain the man when he is in a crowd full of other drunk people? They should fire him based on that lack of policy alone

What policy are you referring to?

Does BRPD have a policy that you must wait for backup to arrest someone if there is a crowd?

They actually might. Taking on a suspect in a crowd is not a good idea. Every department has their own policies on how to handle various scenarios.

This guy wasn’t complying. Cops have to deal with this crap all the time. Maybe some of you “baws” should learn how to handle your alcohol. I enjoy my drinks as much as the next guy but it’s painful to see those who can’t handle alcohol. Maybe they should be drinking milk. If I’m the judge the boy pays for not complying and the cop walks.

Well it looked more like they were trying to dance around. Some of y'all must be some pussies if you think that dude looked tough.

Could have been a statue made of butter and those punches would not have taken it down. Lol I would not even call those punches.

I couldn't see the cop's legs but I imagine he had some solid leg stomps in there perfectly timed with those WCW punches.
