Is there a reason that they don't have checkpoints on game days?

Not that I'm complaining, but it seems like those dicks would relish that kind of opportunity...

Do the police still legally have to announce those things? Publish it in a paper/online/whatever?

LSU pays them a crap load to keep traffic moving ever so poorly. Think they would like this idea?

They have enough trouble organizing the traffic and contra flow away from the game, why would they throw a checkpoint into this already cluster frick?

They had one at the 110 on ramp after Bayou Bash and they raked in the drunks.

They all got thrown out beacause.......

I guess LSU pulled some strings.

You'd get a higher class then you originally intended, the type of class that pays for top tier lawyers that make most DWI police look silly.

yep and BRPD struggles to run a check point properly. They have had multiple check points thrown out because they were too stupid to follow the rules.

And then they'll run around saying defense lawyers are using technicalities against them. Its not technicalities thats beating the cops, its professionalism or in those case, lack thereof.

They've had a few on Ben Hur over the years after day games. Like later on that night.

They're way too busy collecting OT, not doing traffic duty, and chatting up girls 20 years younger than them.

Stay safe.

Yeah, they'd rake in the cash but I don't know how they'd have the manpower to do it, plus like others have said, it would make a bad situation even worse traffic wise.

All that being said, I could see them doing it on Perkins around College or Essen or something like that catching the residual traffic that filters down that way.

One of the reasons is because the laws that govern checkpoints state that you can't divert traffic into the checkpoint. In other words, force people to drive through it. With contra flow and road closings on Game Days it is a good argument that people are forced to take a particular route. This all comes from the messed up SCOTUS decision that allowed the checkpoints in the first place. They only approved them because they were "random". If you are forced into it, it isn't random anymore.

All of what you said is very much true. Also another reason why one on Perkins somewhere near College, Essen, Bluebonnet area would rake in the DWI's after a game.
