The dairy, which was founded in New Orleans in 1904 and known for many years as Brown’s Velvet, is now owned by Dean Foods, based in Dallas.

A spokesman for Dean Foods on Tuesday confirmed that the Baronne Street milk processing facility will close.

The move will eliminate approximately 185 positions at the plant in New Orleans. Production will be phased out over the next several months,

Don't care. Cheap milk. Should have not chosen to work in that field.

I thought your post was pretty lame until you dropped the kicker.

I don't consume milk anymore but when I did I would always buy Browns solely for the fact they had the Saints Fleur Dis Lis on the cap.

That's unfortunate. I drink a lot of milk and I like Brown's milk better than most. Hate to lose those jobs in N.O.

I like Kleinpeter milk better, their recent quality problem notwithstanding, but it's a lot more expensive. Usually it's >$1.50 more per gallon than Brown's or other brands.

That's because they are nice to their cows.

Their chocolate milk was the best. Damn.

I guess it's Kleinpeter only now.

Sharp satire of the ignorance of the oilfield bashers here.

Yep. It's amazing how expensive that area has become considering it's proximity to the River Garden and old Melph projects (which are being rebuilt).

I just bought 2 gallons at walgreens. I really hate to hear this. I buy 2 gallons every other day for only $3.89 gallon. I hate walmart.
