The crazy thing is that property in Central City is this valuable. Orleans parish real estate west of the Industrial Canal is on fire. It's insane.

frick. I crush some brown's dairy. This is horrible news.

The plant is relocating to Hammond, they aren't shuttering production of any products.

It doesn't stop at the parish line. Prices in Metairie (especially east of the Causeway) are higher than ever and rising.

I worked for them in the early 90's. Del ice cream to the Morgan city area out of laffy. Great money in the summer, but the winters were a struggle.

How long have they been owned by a Texas company?

I always look for their milk.

Dean Foods just bought the Sunshine Dairy plant in Hammond a month or two ago, hence the closure.

It's nice that an outside company kept the local brand name. Unlike K&B or Hibernia.

They're just ditching the plant in NOLA because they have the capacity to pump out their milk in Hammond on a 24 hour shift - that plant used to work for 10 hrs a day, but now they're hiring more people to run around the clock. It's the same milk plant that Winn Dixie used to run on the same site of their warehouse in Hammond, Dean/Venture Foods is just a new owner - one that I recognized from when I drove cross country years ago. They're good people, treat their employees right.

They are just consolidating operations. Prob want to sell the land to get cash to invest elsewhere.

I like Kleinpeter milk better, their recent quality problem notwithstanding, but it's a lot more expensive. Usually it's >$1.50 more per gallon than Brown's or other brands.

You ain't lying. Got damn Kleinpeter is expensive.

K&B beer and whiskey rocked!

I hope the employees at the New Orleans plant gets the chance to reapply for positions at the Hammond plant.
