Sitting here in the hospital waiting room trying to waste some of this nervous time and figured I would make a post in the hopes of a little more understanding from some experiences you guys may have had. Basically my 20-year old brother got into a bad wreck Saturday night and has been in a coma ever since. He had a surgery immediately because of bleeding in his stomach and a ruptured appendix. Last night they took him off of the sedation medicine twice but on both occasions, his heart rate and vital signs quickly dropped. Today they are going to let him relax and not take any tests until tonight. I'm asking for prayers and also maybe any experiences you guys have had like this.

Update 2/22 @ 8:30AM
He still hasn't woken up. The doctors were able to run a CT scan on him over night. The brain had some significant swelling and there were two blood clots on the left side of his brain. The positive here is that the blood clots have not gotten any bigger since he was admitted in so they will leave them be for right now. They are going to try an MRI at 11am if his body will cooperate with them.

I hope he pulls through. I know what you are going through right now. Just be there for him now and let him know how much you love him and want him to stay.

Let him know you have so many more memories to make, and that you need him here.

The rest is out of your hands.

He was going down a dark road in DS and it was really foggy. Didn't see the road curve and went straight into a culvert.

Sorry to make it a heavy Sunday for you guys.

Needs to remain on vent for 48 hours and allow his body to relax and catch up to the injuries he received. No reason to try and remove him from the vent so soon. If the injuries were only to his abdominal area and no head injuries, should make a full recovery.

Life happens. She's asking for prayers and some temporary relief from a serious problem. That's far more important than her putting a damper on your Sunday morning of trolling and jerking off

Actually they are worried about his head and cannot take a CT scan because he is unstable at the moment. The doc used some terms I didn't understand. And they are also worried his neck and spine may have been broken or their is some damage. Again they can't test for that just yet because they don't want to move him or something like thay

that is a very difficult thing to handle...even in the best case, it will be a long road for him. please be sure to take care of yourself and the rest of the family, as a lot of folks get sick themselves when taking care of a loved one.

your brother is lucky to have you guys...try to relax and take things one step at a time.

My younger brother was in a car wreck the day my first daughter was born. He was in a coma for about 6 weeks or so, doctors gave him little hope. He recovered and lives a full, normal life. He was a basketball player in college, so that had to go but everything else worked out for him

Never give up hope.

Your story sounds a lot like mine. Younger brother is a basketball player as well. He's a resilient guy so I'm positive he will make it through. Thanks for the story share. Really gives hope
