It was a worked shoot

Randy was busted open "hard way"

Likely a build up for a rematch at Surivor Series

The question isn't (or shouldn't be) whether or not Brock was actually trying to "beat him up for real." Of course not. The weird thing about this is that there are easier ways to get blood in a match. If that was a blade, that's the worst blade job ever. WWE doesn't even let guys blade anymore, so if Randy and Brock actually wanted blood, they'd have to agree to do it hard way. Personally, I think it was just an inadvertent elbow, and they stopped the match because Randy was legitimately dazed, and it was a nasty cut. Finn and Joe were in the same situation in NXT when Joe got busted hardway and they kept stopping it for a doctor to check him every few seconds. It totally killed the match, but Vince doesn't want blood on TV anymore.

Heard a theory that Randy bladed and Brock was supposed to give him a stiff elbow to make it look good but went to far. That sounds plausible to me, had it been a legit shoot I don't think the theatrics with Shane at the end would have happened.

Frank Sinatra told me Bill Goldberg 137 years old. 137 years old!

I'm thinking Brock fricked up by elbowing him and opening him up, then "attacked him" and pulled punches so that Vince and creative could figure out what to do next. Looks like the improv was for Shane to run out and get F5'd. Also think the original plan was for Brock to TKO Orton and then Goldberg comes out to save him.

It's already been confirmed that Goldberg was never scheduled to appear, so you can throw that idea out.

He's younger than The Undertaker. Surely he can work one more match.

Either Brock working too stiff or the absolute worst blade job in the history of wrasslin. Either is feasible. I think the end result was what they wanted. So rare to even have people discussing whether something was a work or a shoot. Good for business.

Lesnar was looking for the voices in Ortons head but all he found was a bunch of blood.

Remember when Austin broke into Brian Pillman's house live on raw and a gun was pulled with the screaming of "motherfricker" uncensored live on USA network during a staged shootout..

I miss mid-late 90s Raw.
