Her best hope at this point is to have the Ukrainians bust her out when they takeover Moscow...

I don't care a ton about the situation either way, but actively celebrating someone being locked in a cage because you don't agree with their politics is a bit fricking ghoulish, and is absolutely no different than those on the left ghoulishly celebrating people being locked in cages over 1/6.

That's gonna leave a mark.

This. I don’t want any American citizen locked up in a Russian prison for nine years for having weed/CBD, no matter their political affiliation.

Although some may enjoy the specifics of Griner’s problem, it is nonetheless a problem that she created by breaking the law of a country that SHE chose to work in. Remove the fact of her celebrity status, and we could probably agree that breaking the law wherever you are is stinkin thinkin.

What you're really saying is conservatives should just lay down and take it and not fight back. frick. That.

We have all be accused at some point of doing something we didn't do. For 6 plus years Democrats have accused Russia of doing things they didn't do for their own political gain. Did they really think there wouldn't be consequences to their actions. Now Brittany is paying the price for their actions. Any Democrat that went along with this and didn't challenge the politicians on this has blood on their hands.

Grinder would be the first person to celebrate someone being put into jail because she didn't like their politics. She's a derange Democrat. She also publicly rallied from Police officers to be jailed despite the fact that the drug dealer fired first. She wouldn't have blinked an eyelid if their lives were ruined.

While I don't care much about the story, I find it very odd that you think her being detained is a funny thing or laughable moment. Regardless of opinions on the matter, you seem like a miserable frick that hopes everyone does worse than you.

There's an Amazonian Nubian chick on my rig offshore right now that looks like her but darker. Neck tattoo's and all. She is around 6'2" and looks like she could man handle someone.

Seems a lot of the same people that were upset about the Alex Jones ruling are gleeful about the Griner ruling.

Not even close to the same thing, but I'm sure you know that.

Well, take that back, both Brit Brit and Alex were convicted by Commies, so there's that.

No, there is nothing funny or enjoyable about a person being detained by other country. However, it’s the ironic karma of this person who unfairly criticized and disrespected our military, police officers , and laws… now is begging this country to save her. That’s the amusing part.

I don't think it's as much of a celebration of her being locked up so much as it is a glaring representation of the prevailing attitude among her and her peers that the US is the most oppressive and racist country on Earth.

While I understand your position on the irony of the situation, that isn't mutually exclusive with the, yes, celebration we have all seen, on here and elsewhere. And the further irony is that the celebration from the political right on this issue will absolutely be construed as further evidence of the oppression and racism by and of the political right in this country. As a libertarian who has historically identified more with Republicans than I have Democrats, I'm constantly fricking frustrated by just how willing the right is to give the left political fodder in areas in which the right gains absolutely fricking nothing by doing so, outside of some lulz.

The right should have gained a ton of political points on this issue, in the same way that the left has gained a ton of political points when Hurricane Ian tore through Florida and a bunch of Democrats from the northeast got to say "hey, remember when you made Sandy a political football? So do we, but we're better than you are, so we are going to support disaster relief for your citizens anyway, you fricking ghouls." That's exactly what should have happened here. "Griner, you've been an absolute fricking bitch, but you're an American, and we are going to prove to everyone just how seriously we take civil liberties in this country, contrary to what you might say."

But noooooo, too many internet lulz to be had.

"MOSCOW—A Moscow regional court declined to overrule the drugs conviction of U.S. women’s basketball star Brittney Griner, paving the way for the two-time Olympian to serve nine years in a penal colony for the possession and smuggling of less than a gram of hashish oil."

I am in the camp of not finding this to be something to celebrate. However, the article goes on to discuss a prisoner exchange between the two countries. What I cannot understand is why we have literally thousands of incarcerated Americans across the globe who have never received a moment of notoriety, nor much of an attempt to free them. (Or so it seems) I think Griner deserves the same effort that is afforded the others, no more, and no less.
