Why would a genie need to be Asian? Genies are originally from Mesopotamia. If anything he should be Middle-Eastern.

You obviously don’t understand how this works. Let me help you.
1. It’s ok to cast a traditionally non-black character with a black actor.
2. It’s not ok to ever cast a traditionally black character with anything other than a black actor.
3. If casting a traditionally black character with a black actor, said actor must be sufficiently black.
Remember those three rules and you can’t go wrong.
