That's probably the only silver lining...EMD was able to get there super fast since they're only a couple miles away.

The CSX train was reportedly parked on a side track and the Amtrack train was on the wrong track and ran into it. The 2 fatalities were Amtrack workers.

In this day of technology how is it possible for trains to collide. This is not a sarcastic post, I just figured there would be some sort of system that alerts (and possibly activates the breaks) if two trains are on the same track/path).
I’m a pilot and even in small planes we have transponders and TCAS that lets you know a traffic collision is imminent.
