I think you start seeing desperate people do desperate things. I think you see people go to other countries and I think you see people end up in the US and we have no clue where they are.
It could have that unintended consequence, but you would also see increased screening in those countries as well. This is one way to force some of their hands.

Though probably true, that is a tough bit of litigation to pursue. Good luck finding a judge and jury that will not give the institution the benefit of the doubt, since CDC was involved and they're saying this is likely caused by poor protocol, top down.

Ebola patients have tripled in one week in the United States

What did the CDC have to do with this again
Head of CDC was on tv just this morning saying in hindsight they probably should have sent a couple folks at the hospital in Dallas when the Ebola case was confirmed.
Instead they sat on their arse in Atlanta and blamed the Asian nurse for improperly removing her hazmat suit.

US Southern Command is already expecting a massive influx of ebola infected people into South America to try to get to the US

They didn't sit on their arse but they werent as proactive as they should have been. I can totally see it as the hospital admin saying, no, we got it. Don't need your help. CDC should have said, tough shite, we're coming.

that sounded bad

The CDC has response teams specifically set up to arrive at each case within hours. They did and they failed.

And, as someone else said, it could force the hand of other countries and get them to get more strict with their travel policies.
Perhaps the US could be a leader in this regard or will we continue to lead from behind?

I'm sure it's been answered, but were either of these nurses in contact with other patients after the care of Duncan? How many of their loved ones are pending an infection now? How many people at Starbucks, McDonalds, or anywhere else they visited have been exposed?
