My condolences to the family. I couldn't image losing a child, much less two at the same time and while on vacation.

Very sad.

Why does EVERYTHING have to be turned into a racial issue. You can't even send condolences now without someone turning it into a race issue.

ridiculous

The pain cannot even be imagined. They lost their angels and life just became a dark place.

Heart hurts for them:(

Prayers for all involved.

I may have been quick to reply how I did - but it wasn't because I was trying to drag race into it... I was trying to keep race out of it. There are plenty of people who make snide, inappropriate comments, subject matter be damned.

Pimp - I wasn't paying attention to who posted the comment when I first read it. Had I seen it was you - that definitely would've tempered my interpretation.

You people who think I was race-baiting this topic are equally as wrong... I was genuinely trying to ensure the opposite. Most of y'all here don't know me well enough to know that... I understand. But there's a few of you who do and have chosen to pile on for whatever nonsensical reason. Muckraking has never been my MO on this board.

Just refer to the first reply I made in this thread if you doubt my "intentions" or mindset.

Prayers to that family, losing two sons has to be unimaginably painful.

Pay attention to those beach flags, folks.

Yes, their grandfather said they did.

quote:

The grandfather of the brothers, Steward Spencer I, said 19-year-old Steward Spencer III tried to save his younger brother, 12-year-old Joshua Spencer. He said both boys did know how to swim.

“They got in the riptide,” he said. “They weren’t in high water. The waves came up and ... the wave was pulling (Joshua) out and he (Steward) went to try and save his brother and then another tide came in and pulled him in too.”

So sad.

RIP. The ocean must be respected... very tragic for this family, and as others have said, not sure how they will begin to move forward.

Lost a friend in January in the water

I hate to hear that may both of them Rest In Peace. As a parent I can't imagine what they are going through. Me and my family went to orange beach last weekend and the waves were rougher compared to the times I went to Destin.

I assume rip currents got them, red flags were flying and there was a high risk of rip currents.

I was there yesterday and the waves were so powerful. Pulling you in one direction and huge waves crashing on top of you. Prayers for the family.

I live down here and they have been talking about the RC for about a week from the earlier Hurricane that went into Mexico. Such a tragedy for this family.
