There is a distinct tone on this board when it comes to the suggestion of the type of things BR residents choose as "rallying points"... Especially of late. I'm all about bashing the ones who are deserving of it... but this is not the thread.

I do hope your "What are you talking about?" was genuine... but it was right on cue.

That sucks. This is why it is so crucial to be a strong swimmer and knowledgeable of the hazards of the ocean before venturing out into it.

Reminds me of an incident some years ago on the Red River. A big family event, a bunch of kids of different ages playing in the water. One went too far out and the others went after them, despite none of them being able to swim. I think 6 or 7 went in.

None of the adults could swim either. Terrible tragedy.

So sad and panic can set in being caught in a rip current and feeling yourself moving away from the shoreline.
Prayers to all.

Edited because my intent may not have come through on when posted.

Condolences to the family on this horrible tragedy. As a father of 4, I cannot imagine the pain of this loss and sincerely believe no parent should ever have to outlive their children.

I was not going to reply to the first a-hole who tried to pick a fight on a thread about local kids dying. But You seem to be inferring that my unequivocally CRYSTAL CLEAR sincere expression of sadness over the death of two local children is somehow possibly racist (????? What the living f*ck) because You were inexplicably triggered by my desire that " I hope Baton Rouge rallies around this family"? Seriously?

That anybody would attempt to turn a thread about the drowning death of two local children into a political treatise is absolutely disgusting . And what is ironic about pointing the finger at me of all people is that I have written on multiple ocassions on this board about the YMCA swimming program and how to make donations that help disadvantaged kids learn to swim . It is an issue dear to my heart.

Both of you jerks need to ask yourself what Language we are supposed to use if we can't speak clear unambiguous English without having somebody rush in to attribute horrible traits to you.? Some of you less thoughtful types need to check yourself, if for nothing else, out of common decency . Two kids died here and their family doesn't need disharmonious comments when they someday Google their kids name. In fact , once both of you have erased your truly shitty comments, I will erase mine so they don't have to have assholery associated with their children's deaths .

Bam! Well said Pimp. I instantly knew it was sincere yet it boggles my mind how folks will try to spin it. As a father of two, I don't know that I could go on if I were in these parent's shoes. Prayers to those folks.

I was explaining why someone might misread your statement I inferred nothing from it and implied nothing of the sort in my post.

My apologies if I wasn't clear. I made no political statement, only a statement regarding the tone on the OT.

quote:

You were inexplicably triggered

I was not, I was only stating why an otherwise innocuous statement on the OT gave me pause. You do seem triggered and I guess I understand why if you inferred from what I posted that you were racist.

Unfortunately, the way people and movements have co-opted language and terms, this is difficult, venue often make all the difference.

Let me finish by saying because a family has suffered an unimaginable tragedy, I will erase my comment though I meant nothing directed at you in particular. I hope you will do the same as you have said you will.
