I'd live in Georgetown.

I had folks there when I was coming up.

Not only a chance, but a high probability that the property will sell for more than the asking price. The Bay Area real estate market has this crazy practice of overbidding on homes. A home listed for $1,049,000 can be reasonably expected to sell for at least $1.2 million, and could go for $1.4 million. It's nuts.

About 15 years ago, sister paid ~$800,000 for a house listed at $550,000. They sold it for $1.4 million about 2 or 3 years ago.

My goal is to buy a 1800 square foot 4th floor condo for 650k in 15 years. So I guess it depends on the location.

$165 per SF in BR is on the low end currently. I guess some people don't pay attention to current market rates.

I found a home in disrepair here in Jackson. It needs a lot of money and work, but maybe I could turn it into something special.

It has 6 beds, 4 full baths, 6,326 sq ft.

Asking price is $130k.

I love the inflated housing prices in Baton Rouge because it keeps people like Y'all out of my area...

Seriously though, I am not sure what some of these new subdivisions like this are thinking. Parade of Homes this year had multiple zero lot line $750k houses. For that much cash, I want to be able to walk around in my back yard at least.

That is so frightening to think of.

Parts of Jackson are heading down the Detroit death spiral model.

It's actually not in a horrible area. It's in Clinton, which can be hit or miss.

I do know that they are putting a dump site in Clinton, so that may be affecting the price.

The home is in REALLY bad shape.

I almost bought a home in Eastover area. 4,000 sq feet, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, new roof, no foundation issues. It needed new kitchen and bathrooms (a lot of money), but the asking price was $127k.

But, I agree, Jackson is getting awful. When people in Eastover are getting kidnapped by gunpoint in the morning, it's time to get the frick out.

2700sqft in Georgetown for a $1.5M? What's the catch. That seems like a deal. Place must need some work.
