The bad areas of Jackson are worse than that of Baton Rouge … but I find that the suburbs are a lot nicer in Jackson area. There is not much overlap of socioeconomic classes in central Mississippi.

To the contrary, downtown is clean and almost gentrified. Even government on down looks kinda cleaned up.

I actually like living in BR. The problems the city has are mostly quarantined to the north due to the interstate

Comparing Irvine to BR is like comparing Mandeville to San Bernardino. But yes, BR has gone down like most all urban cities. Our homeless problem is not as bad as many. It's all the empty businesses and offices in BR that gets me. And they don't have a for sale sign on them, they just sit and rot.
