Chalet Brandt

IIRC this was lauded in the classic New Orleans Underground Gourmet book.

Needless to say neither I nor anyone in my family ever went there. I don't think I even ever drove past it Where was it? When did it close?
Where the Velvet Cactus is and was Another Shitty Egg before VC.

Closed late 90’s maybe???

I miss the Village, near where Academy is on Airline by Florida.

That place? Couldn't place the name but it was a damn good restaurant. Hated to see it close.

Green Duck. Best cheap Mexican ever. Only lasted six months in 2001.

Caterie was so great. I lived a few blocks away and ate there three times a week.

Silver Moon.
Best soul food ever. So cheap. I miss that place a lot.

Pretty close, it was literally right next to I-110 north of the governor's mansion curves on Weller Ave. That was the 1st location. There was a second one on Airline. It probably closed in the late 70's I'm guessing. My Dad said Doc Pennington was always in there.

Pedro's?

It may have been Pedro's. Wasn't a well known chain and was about where Jack in the box is now. Maybe a building or two to the North.

Drusila seafood. Unless it is still open, haven't been there since 1998 or so. Great broiled fish. I like to have some of those cast irion pans.
