I still don't understand how or why that happened. What was the reasoning? I just remember reading Rolfe's bullshite the day he gave his endorsement and being like "What?!"
I then unsubscribed from the Daily Report and have probably read like 3-4 stories from them, likely under protest, since.
What was the story there? Rolfe's weird white guilt?
Same.

What kinda shocks me is the fact she's been in government for awhile now and this happens. You'd think she would have known of a slicker way to get this done. Egregious is the only word I can think to summarize.
Most politicians are fairly intelligent and know the rules and what is in and out of bounds. And if they want to do something that is out of bounds, they know how to do it in a way that never points back to them.
Marc Morial might be have been the most corrupt, POS mayor in the history of the state. But he was smart enough to not let things point to him. He was smart enough to know what issues the people really cared about (like crime) and focused his public energy there. Behind the scenes, his cronies were hitting people up left, right, and center for money... but it never pointed to him.
People like Broome and her buddy in NOLA are dumber than a box of rocks. They got the stealing and corrupt part down, but they have no idea how to not let it point at them, and they have no idea how to take care of the few basic things people care about.

BR Business Report and the BR Elite gave us Broome. Nothing known now that wasn't known then.
I hate to play the one-up game... but it's the same story in NOLA. The elites put Latoya into office because they thought they could control her and they didn't want to have to pay the bribes that Desi's brother would have enforced.
And in public they could say "hey we not racist we supported a black woman!"

Those are the ones who likely determine her fate.
They're also the ones responsible for her...including that sackless douche rolfe

Make no mistake about it, Walter Monsour was a huge reason for Kip Holden's success as mayor-president.

And Kip grts credit for having Walter in that position, and then staying TF out of the way.
Kip wanted to be mayor for the fun part of being mayor, the parties, the dressing up, holding a press conference, etc. He wasn't much for the hard work of running a city.
But he also knew he needed to have a good person actually running the city.
And I'm 100 percent ok with that.
Sometimes I wonder if the city manager form of government, with the mayor basically a figurehead, is the way we should go.

Is this witch hunt? This smells like acquisitions!!!!

Aren't we stuck with her for three more years tho?

Was White really that terrible that the people of Baton Rouge refused to vote for him?
He's awful and was caught up in his support/non-support of Baton Rouge.
And that's been incompetent Broome's lifeline the entire time. She has the black vote but also gets a lot of support from together BR folks who understandably are voting their own self-interest in preventing St. George. She won re-election easily because of this issue.
I will randomly think about her encouraging/supporting Alton Sterling's family to sue the city, her employer.

There are lots of intelligent, professional, motivated, and above-the-bull shite politics fray, black women.
Name them.

Why New Orleans and BR chose those two idiots is beyond me. If you have to tick a box, got damn, pick a black woman that can actually navigate the waters.
Because the majority of black voters (anda bunch of white voters too) will call those candidates “Oreos” and vote for the most militant, jive arse black candidate they see. “Cause he/she thinks like us”.

Sharon Weston Broome is done as mayor of Baton Rouge.
Broome is a black female politician…she’s not going anywhere until her term is up.

Chief Murphy Paul sealed her fate long ago.

I’m unfamiliar with him. What did he do?
He had a similar incident losing the Publics trust with the sewer system.
The most important job for a mayor is to sell the city and bring a unifying voice to as many as possible. Kip had flaws but was a master at championing BR coupled with hiring quality people to run the inner workings of the city..
Simpson pissed off people in the black and the white community, a rare feat in the south
IMO… Kip unfortunately pissed the race baiting industry off and no good unifying candidate emerged so we got Broome

This situation proves that the most important boxes to check are competence and leadership. Yet the masses that vote see that other qualifications are more important.
I wish this would be a reckoning but sadly prdeict more of the same.

Broome needed a job and retirement after she termed out of the senate. Friends in the legislature always told me that she's no different than Karen Peterson but is conniving enough to not openly show her deep-seeded hatred of white people.

Has she banned BR Business Report from her press conferences yet?

Broome’s disapproval rating in a late October Daily Report poll was an eye-popping 82.2%. It wasn’t a scientific survey, but that fact can’t be enough to dismiss a 9% approval rating, Ball points out.
So I assume the other 9% are unsure?
82% disapprove
9% approve
9% has no opinion?

Yeah it's those three options for the poll. Somewhat agree that a large portion of her voterbase does not frequent the BRBR
