I bet they got that industrial tax exemption though. Then just left the site there for tax payers to deal with.

The legal definition of a adult may be based on the calendar, but maturity is not. The development of the brain , and it’s ability to make rational, logical choices can extend well into a person's 20s

? Should the property owner be responsible for not securing the plant or is it on the people trespassing?

On the people trespassing. Adult & high school graduate who knew he and friends were trespassing and knew there were dangers.

Judging by the google street view from inside the power plant, it was a highly visited place by street artist

I was looking at that earlier. It is obvious that They are using rappelling gear, and ascenders to get to everywhere they are painting.

I doubt he was just walking along when a plank gave way. He was climbing beams, fell, and went through a floor. His mother has not been given the truth yet.

Signs posted to not trespass?

Are you suggesting that it’s acceptable to enter a property that isn’t yours or open to the public simply because of a sign (or lack of one)?

The boy knew what he was doing. He was plenty old enough. There is no one else to blame here.

It may be sad but let’s not knee jerk this.

You have every ability to go frick around at Chernobyl but don’t try and blame someone else if you get exposed to radiation from something

Nope bit they sure do make sure the kids are flaming liberals. The fall is all on him for trespassing. Sure a law suit will be coming though.

Looking at the pics nola dot com posted, the kid died for likes on social media. he’s been there before and posted pics from sitting high on top the building overlooking the city… that’s pretty sad in my opinion

I think it’s time that we as a society take a real close look at the overall negative impact smart phones and social media are having on our country

Pay attention dipshit, that wasn’t my point

They’re doing it for attention, and dying because of it these days

Then the parents will turn around and sue the property owners because their child did some dumb shite

I love urban exploring. Not so much the thrill of climbing old buildings and standing on the edge, but just seeing old buildings and how they operated. That being said, I only go when I have permission and of course during the day.

If you break in to some place and do cool stuff for the camera and then fall and die, then that's on you. It's not the property's fault at all. I can't imagine how much security would cost a site like that day after day, night after night. That AND the property taxes for a vacant building just to protect some person from themself? Not if I'm on any jury for that sort of thing.

Sorry he's dead. But if you're doing extreme things then sometimes you die. That's what makes it 'fun'.

How is this even a question? Is there no personal accountability now?

No, stupid kids did that. And when they got hurt or killed, it was there fault. Same as this. But now, some trial lawyer will be filing a lawsuit against the property owner. It’s bullshite.
