and wont be done until May 2018

In a news release issued Wednesday, the mayor's office said the city's original estimate of $6 million for the full eight-block Bourbon is moot. Instead, the project will cost over $13 million.

Oh no way.

I don't believe it.

This is really really shocking.

Maybe they could sell the melted down statues to help cover the additional cost.

Mitch must certainly be working with a surplus.

I wish they would just bulldoze it all to the ground. Then, drop a bomb filled with Lysol and Febreze.

What a legacy Mitch is leaving behind.

Between destroying the statues and leaving the mold covered rubble behind in what used to be beautiful parts of the city with no plans to fix them, personally and intentionally directly causing the flooding of the city due to his incompetence as the executive head of the S&WB,and destroying Bourbon street right before festival season, he's had quite a year.

What a wonderful tribute to him.

Proud to be a fricking Landrieu.

What a colossal piece if human shite that guy is.

And yet the contractors will still be paid for the initial contract cost. Where does the extra money go? Hmmm. Check the freezers.

Don't worry. The 7M overage should be covered by Balcony Air Rights income.

Wasn't the original timeline something absurd like 5-6 months?

Bourbon should look pretty sharp in 2032 after that 85 million dollar renovation.

Wasn't this money supposed to be ear marked for crime/public safety in the first place?

Can you imagine what a real project, like replacing 4 turbines, will actually cost the tax payers?
