Crappy luck. Had to replace three of them in the space of less than three years. When I replaced that car, I bought the windshield coverage from the dealer, about $700, covers for 6 years. These new windshields have all kinds of tech on them now. And they run well in excess of $1000 each. And need to be calibrated.

I had a windshield replaced several years back. A week after, I went to Colorado to visit a friend and drove back down through NM, and through Pecos. I hit a dust storm and the state highway was being resurfaced. I got through there with about a 6 inch crack to the edge of the windshield, and about 3 stars. I decided to not give a shite and have driven it that way since.
Anyone know how true this is?

For the most part yes, most windshield installers can get the manufacture windshield though, they just cost more. The best thing is, especially if you have original windshield, when a rock hits it get it repaired quick as possible. You keep your original seal, and spend $40-50 instead of $100s or up to a $1,000.

I've had to get my windshield replaced 3 times so far on my 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.
Have glass coverage through State Farm. Have never had to pay anything to get it replaced and got Jeep original glass replaced each time.
Jeep windshields have certain little decals in certain spots of the windshield.
Also...with the angle of the windshields on Wranglers...you better have glass coverage cause you will get a lot of cracks because of the angle.
In general in AZ you need glass coverage anyways cause of all the rocks...very easy for some car to kick up a stray rock on the freeway and fling it onto your windshield.

Try a repair kit off Amazon. They work pretty well if not spread too far.

We have a Caravan that is on it's 3rd cracked windshield in a little over a year. Never had a vehicle with a broken windshield until now.
