did you mean "fateful"? If not, I'm really impressed by your signal strength and battery life.
No, I meant fatal.
3 overdoses in 2 months.
No heartbeat for 2 minutes and 43 seconds. I was very literally dead. Took 28mg of narcan total from a narcan IV drip

The afformentioned 3 OD’s in 2 months had a lot to do with it. Tried to home detox a couple of weeks after the no heart beat incident (that didn’t stop me, checked out of the hospital and went right back at it).
After ~10 days of home detox and going on 4-5 days of not being able to hold water down I went to the hospital for dehydration. I was hours away from complete kidney failure with talks of dialysis.
5 days of banana bags and constant blood work and my kidneys were shaking back. Had around 2 weeks clean leaving the hospital. Called a man that I have an immense amount of respect for that runs one of the best treatment centers in La. (I’m sure he’s treated others on this board).
Told him I needed help and was really ready to be done. He said come check in, don’t go home leaving the hospital. Straight here.
My mother drove me there and I detoxed for another 2 weeks nearly.
I was done man. My body was shutting down. I was depressed. I hated myself. I hated that I couldn’t stop despite multiple rehab attempts. I felt trapped and enslaved to a fricking bag of brown bullshite. That’s a shitty feeling.
After 20 or so days in treatment I finally gave up trying to do shite my way. My way wasn’t working and only got me closer and closer to death.
I said I’ll do whatever y’all say. If I frick up it’s y’all a fault.
I’ll have a year at the end of this month. My life is immensely easier and I’m happier than I’ve ever been. I don’t think I “have it beat” or am in the clear, ever. I’m one stupid phone call away from being right back where I was this day a year ago.
Kind of like I said earlier, I just try to be better today than I was yesterday. I’m not perfect by any stretch of the word, I’m not cured. I’m lucky to have a somewhat supportive family despite multiple failed attempts and let downs. I’m lucky to have been given the opportunity to go to the treatment center I went to. I’m lucky to be alive. Despite still not being religious and being rather agnostic, I really do believe that something out there has a plan for me and my life. Too many strange occurrences happened to preserve my life and get me to where I am.
Sorry for the rambling. I could type for hours but this is the kind of short version. Addiction is no joke and I truly empathize with every person still struggling and every person battling it while in sobriety.
Edit:
Not shite. The whole situation furthered my agnostic views that there is likely no “afterlife” - but that’s a whole different topic that I could speak about for hours. To each his own as far as religious views go

I wish I would have done what you did. I went the methadone clin8c route and it's a freaking ball and chain.. That shite is 5 times as bad of a detox as heroin and opiates

If any of you baws want to free her, it’ll only take $11,000 and a trip up to Parish Prison.

I had gone the subutex route for a couple of years. Was taking 3 subutex a day on top of my heroin addiction. Subutex unlike suboxone can be taken without “blocking” opiates.
This compounded my detox into a near 4 week long time frame. I assume the first week or two of hell was the heroin detox and the next 2 weeks was the slow withdraw that comes from buorenorphine.
Methadone, suboxone and subutex are all straight up scams. Subutex never helped me besides giving me a crutch when I was in between bags of dope.
Surprisingly to this day my biggest craving is coke. I was doing speedballs and straight coke a lot of the time. The rush from coke is what still gives me chills and makes me cringe to think about, almost a year later. I actually have a horrible gut crenching feeling right now just typing that out.

I know. I think about shooting Meth and it makes me have to take a shite lol. And the stomach feeling too.
I did suboxone in between bags of heroin and Oxycontin. So I get it. Subutex blocked it too for me though just not as much

Not as bad though, the longer you go without doing the speed type drugs the easier it is.
This methadone is a fricking monster. 130mgs a day for 8 years at least. My detox would kill me cold turkey. It would last at least a month or two

Man, find a good treatment center that will do an extended ultram detox for you. I know of a couple of places that will do a 2-3 week ultram taper that will help a ton.
Having to worry about a daily clinic visit is no way to live.
You already know it will be horrible but I can tell you from experience that it feels so much better not being chained to a substance.
8 years of methadone has to be wearing on your body man.

I feel for you man. Methadone is awful stuff. I have seen people successfully get off of that much though. You can do it. And it's worth it in the end. If you really want to get clean, you can do it. Definitely need professional help for this one though. Pulling for you.
