His lawyers argue the trial court judge's "first fundamental error" was denying the defense's repeated requests to move the case out of a city that was "traumatized by the bombings, ordered to shelter in place during the manhunt, saturated by prejudicial publicity and united in the Boston Strong movement."

Before all the keyboard warriors jump in with their blood thirsty comments I will ask to have a civilized discussion on this topic. I am not debating his guilt or sentence, but rather if his lawyer has a valid point?
In this country our justice system mandates we are all guaranteed a fair trial and in this instance its hard for me to believe he got that in a Boston courtroom.
Some of you will say it doesn't matter and that he deserves to fry. Well it does matter because justice is not served if a defendant does not receive a fair trial. I for one do not want to live in a country where mob mentality rules, which is exactly what happened when the judge refused to change venue.

The lawyer has to do his job. If he doesn’t they’ll declare mistrial.

Should a city being traumatized and having to shut down because he tried to blow a bunch of people up not be taken into consideration? That seems to kind of be the whole reason he's on trial.

Why is it hard for you to believe he got a fair trial?

The counter to that is where in the United States would you be able to successfully hold a trial where no one had heard of the Boston Marathon bombing?

Hes at PDX Florence, a maximum security prison. No way he enjoys being there.

....Fair trial by a jury of his peers...

He would have gotten no more of a “fairer” trial anywhere in this country.
We were listening to them watching their mics for crying out loud.
The Information Age has almost assuredly sealed up any high profile criminals fate as far as jurors go. Everyone will already know about the crime due to social media, text alerts, or some 24/7 news source.

You should move, it has been that way for a long time already.

Your opinion is that the judge was unfair. Your opinion. I’m sure the judge goes on more than “nah, because I said so”.

String him up from the highest Dunkin Donuts sign

China’s got the right idea driving these guys out to a field after they’re found guilty and popping a round in their skull

With international coverage of the incident, where exactly did he think he could be tried and get a different result?
Doesn’t matter if they did it in Boston, Springfield, Worcester, Martha’s Vineyard, or anywhere else.
A change of venue across the US would likely have similar issues.
Unless his argument is “Try me in Chechnya”, I don’t think it changes his result.

His lawyer would like for him to get extra special treatment. If the lawyer would like to pay for all the extra expenses incurred, I am for it. If the taxpayers have to cover it after this slimeball terrorized the city, screw him. He should have killed himself in prison with a dull spoon.
