They actually refer to it as a "combat chassis"? We are so fricked.

Quantum computers may very well bring about AI...If an AI one of the Silicon Valley types is working on gets plugged into a quantum computer once they perfect them, shite could get very sketchy.

Forget when Harry met Sally. This is when Matrix met Terminator. We are at the Apple Lisa phase of quantum computers. They will make the most powerful commercially available PC’s look and operate like an abacus. That is no exaggeration.

When you plug an AI into that much speed and raw power...hardly any human knows what will would happen. The ones smart enough to conceive of it-guys like the late Steven Hawking and Elon Musk-were and are so terrified they spoke out publicly against advanced development of them.

We are not far away from our Frankensteins. Not far away at all.

We are probably two decades out from both hardware that can run on quantum computing in large scale and the algorithms that can use quantum computing to perform tasks faster than classical computing to be developed.

The largest quantum computer developed now is only 20 qubits and the problem of scale is a very real one to overcome.

I see Boston is working on Tom Brady's Replacement as we speak. By this time next year, It will be throwing the football 70 yards downfield with 94% Accuracy.

I think that's why the DoD is funding this.

Hypothetically speaking, what kind of weapon would I need in order to destroy one of those?
Hopefully a garden hose...unless the electronics are totally sealed

Did anyone else used to watch the show "Better Off Ted" the name of the fake company was Veridian Dynamics and they were always making some new monster prototype. The parallels here are interesting

Military applications always accelerate the advancement of technologies. Weapons such as Atlas will be equalizers in guerilla warfare by the likes of the Taliban. One could run deep into a cave system carrying a “bunker buster” explosive equivalent, for example.

Would you rather two legs, or some wheels and a rocket claw propulsion for flying out of your arse?

I think that is his point. Yes two legs is most efficient for animals, but for a robot your are not bound by the laws of animals/man

there has to be a better method of propulsion than two legs.

8 legs working in seamless harmony with multi function as both hands and feet. They should make a super fast spider monster.

It isnt all about running speed.

Being able to run and maneuver on two legs absolutely is crucial to us being the apex predator

it would be better if you could do both. Which a robot could. Also, a monkey can.

I just imagined an 8 foot tall robot spider that can shoot lasers from it's eyes.
What's the point of this again?
