Boss emailing at all hours of the night

Apparently I missed an email from my boss that came in after 12:30 AM on a Saturday morning and he's wanting to know why "I'm not receiving his emails."

On a Tuesday? You couldn’t reply Sunday morning? Monday morning?

Is your boss Mark Cuban?

Do you have a way to get your emails on the weekend

I have a work-provided smart phone. I answer emails whenever they come in if I have access to whatever information is needed.
If I didn't, perhaps I'd only be answered during work hours.

I absolutely do, but damn if I'm really paying that much attention to my work email inbox on the weekend, especially those coming in at overnight hours.

Is your boss boom? If not this thread doesn’t belong here

Well I don't expect work emails on the weekend, but I look every morning and afternoon on the weekend quickly just to make sure I didn't miss anything that came up that needs to be done

Was it draft day or something?

When did he ask if you were receiving his emails?

The time of day that emails come in doesn’t matter at all. Just check your email, they aren’t going anywhere.
If you’re paid a salary and have a company phone the expectation is that you reasonably respond. Don’t respond at 12:30, but do by 10am at least.

Lol this is ridiculous. Unless there’s an emergency or you’re getting paid over $100/hr, frick emails on the weekend and frick you clowns who allow bosses to think it’s acceptable to expect responses on the weekend.

Depends on if you have a work provided phone.
If so and he emails you at 2AM they gave you that phone for a reason better reply ASAP.

You're saying that since it came in at a weird time that you missed it when checking your inbox on Mon? I have to side with your boss on this one. You should be able to manage your inbox so that you don't "miss" e-mails. Maybe set up a rule where all of his go to a separate folder?

Mine does this too but I don't read them until the next day. If you need me call me. Screw working 24/7.

I am not beholden to missed emails that come in to me in the wee hours of the morning after midnight. I receive a handful of emails every now and then but they don't always require a prompt response. If you need a response from me and it's on the weekend, it's far better just to call my cell phone.
