I watched it and I'm not really even close to a Boomer. I thought it sucked too. I suspect that the NFL is trying to appeal to more teens and 20-somethings, but a majority of their core demographic probably didn't like it.

Well, I didn't like the music, but they at least usually have cool staging and special effects. This year they had one car and visqueen laid out on the field.

Not sure why this is so tough of a concept. By the time you are 40 or so, nobody is marketing to you.

Yeah because the people with the most money shouldn’t be pandered to. Man are you stupid.

Most things are marketed to young people so they can get customers/viewers for life.

I'm 47 and can tell most commercials aren't targeted to me anymore, maybe Bass Pro Shops and expensive trucks the 20-somethings can't afford yet

I tried to watch, but they didn’t look like me, so these days that’s reason enough.

People can have opinions. It’s not that serious.

This was my thought.. hard not to be aware of Kendrick Lamar, but I had no idea what he was saying. Not picking up any new fans that way.

I skipped the game and am an avid football fan.
Couldn't stand either team and not a big fan of the NFL's virtue signaling.
Seems like I didn't miss much.

Television is driven by ad revenue.

The choice for a halftime act should be driven by ad buys.

Eyeballs with the disposable income to buy your company's product shoud be the key metric.

The goal should be to have a halftime act that appeals to your core constituency such that companies will pay top dollar to secure those advertising spots.

The NFL's core constituency is still GenX/Boomers. Gambling/Fantasy may have made some inroads with the younger gens, but I question how much

IDGAS if 18-25 yo's loved the shite out of Kendrick. They have no money, DGAS about the NFL and are undoubtedly playing GTA or HALO or WhateverTF instead of watching the Super Bowl. The highest rated ads featured the Clydsedales, Mich Ultra, Willem Dafoe and Catherine O'Hara, Damon/Affleck/Beckham and When Harry Met Sally.

We can debate artistic merit all night, but I was a History major at LSU, and even I realize that Kendrick Lamar was a poor choice as far as Marketing was concerned??? And if you don't understand that TV/NFL Football is about eyeballs and TV Money, I don't know what to tell you. Somebody F***** up!!

(Please feel free to blow my thesis up with actual demographic data that shows the actual viewership numbers vs comparitive purchasing power of the respective demographics)

My parents are boomers and host a SB watch party every year. The halftime show was on, but we all just talked through it. It had nothing to do with him being black or it being rap music. The one in LA wasn’t too bad.

It was just very blah. I guess that’s how his music is? I don’t know, I don’t listen to it. I think an elite entertainer will be able to cross over age groups, genders, races, etc. It’s why people acknowledge Whitney Houston’s National Anthem as the best ever.

Really doesn’t matter to me. Last halftime show I watched was The Who…lol Im 64yo so I just watch whatever interests me. Just had 2 CD’s mature so I was checking their value and what to do next. Made pretty good interest and I’ll probably renew for another year at .5 % less rate but it’s secure. Have to remove my brother since he died and will replace with my niece. No children of my own so I have some decisions to make. I talk to her every day since my brother got cancer. Never talked with her before. He asked me to take of her so that’s what I’m doing. I have a substantial amount of money but I live frugally. I don’t take chances after losing a couple hundred thousand in the market in the tech crash of the 90’s.

Anyway, sorry man, I got rambling…lol So I didn’t watch the halftime show because I had some things to ponder. I have nothing against RAP though, hell that’s my initials on every drawing I do. One last Entergy substation. And it’s in Louisiana. 6 wide behemoth with 2 battery rooms for equipment backup. Next time your power blips think about me. I designed every substation in your State.

I put them on 10’ piers now because of flooding. That’s a pain…adds all sorts of structural issues. All us old Boomers aren’t so bad, just life beats you down when everyone you love dies. Got my niece though and she’s about to get off work!

I watched a few minutes of the first quarter.

I'm only interested in high school sports.

It very likely can't be more than 12 %
