Can the directional driller you were talking about do that?

Directional drillers have to be some of the absolute worst with their money. I'm sure they are sweatin it out now.

well like i said it is a little slow until april but there is still work out there right now.

what companies have you contacted? try cajun, performance, turner, olmstead, furmanite, and especially cbi.

as far as the plants go, starting applying on their websites. all the lng plants, sasol, and others are all testing. If you pass the test you will get an interview. All up to you at that point. Realize now a days its less about who you know and almost all about the interview and expierence if you pass the test.

I've talked to Cajun, turner, and furmanite

I've also applied on just about every plant's website and most of them say "no longer being considered for position" as soon as I hit submit which makes me assume you need to know somebody. I'm not afraid of taking a test but I haven't even been asked to do that yet. I passed the Exxon test years ago when I was still in school

OP, cry me a river. You oilfield peeps made your bed, now lie in it. You made two to three times the money for people that do similar jobs in other fields and rubbed everyone's noses in it while it was good but you were too dumb to realize that you might need to save for a rainy day. Now is the time to taste your own medicine.

I would love to have an interview with Sasol. I am on the safety side and have tried the last two months to get in the plants in LC and Westlake. I went to the job fair last month in LC and had a face to face with Cameron LNG but no luck. Your buddy is a fool to turn that down. I would jump on that in a heart beat, no hesistation. Is there a way for you to possibly help me out, if not no problem thanks

Anyone who has grown up in Louisiana understands this. When the oil and gas business is bad, all businesses in Louisiana (except for medical) feel the heat

Unless those in the medical field live in Lafayette or other directly affected areas and need to sell their house. If the downturn lasts long enough it will hit every part of the economy to a degree that cheap gas will not provide sufficient offset.

my buddy's in ND right now because he couldn't find a job here. do you have a contact email? (rhetorical question) i know he's looking to get back to houston or LC, where he got his bs in ME at mcneese.

yea tdlsu777 gmail

he needs to start applying though is the main thing. engineering firms are not hiring at all around here, actually quite the opposite. But the plants are and so are many of the construction firms for project managers. Sasol and the LNG plants would be where I would start. Then the contractors I listed in my other post and any others around here he can find.

safety is a hard one right now but look at Axiall. They are hiring safety guys right now. Only thing I can tell you is keep trying. Getting on with the actual plants is not the easiest thing in the world because there are usually a 1000 people applying for 20 jobs but its not hard to get on with contractors.

send me your resume and I will pass it around for you but like I said safety is not the easiest thing.

all the plants just about are hiring maintenance guys that have crafts like electricians, welders, pipefitters, etc

.
on the contractor side
veola is hiring project managers
performance is hiring proj. managers and a ton of crafts
CBI is hiring everything including proj managers. Pipefitters out the arse

btw for some of you guys, you are going to have to take a position like laborer just to get your foot in the door. After that, its gonna be how hard you work/willing to learn. You can move up as fast you want, all up to you.

What's he doing now? I've been helping a bunch of different farmers get ready to plant rice. Mostly getting paid in beer, but that might be my biggest expense so it's a big help

I've applied to everything that I'm even remotely qualified for. I've been on the drilling side for 9 years and have no plant experience. Living off the nest egg right now hoping to find something I want before I go the laborer route after my wife has a baby in a few weeks.

I have a buddy that got hired as an operator at westlake with no experience and I'm hoping to get an interview with them in the next couple of weeks.

No I don't have truck nuts or frivilous shite but I do have 200K saved up and am transitioning to the refineries south of Houston for another 2 year contract at 1200 a day so frick you poors who hate the oilfield so much.....
