Ehh it's ok you get used to it after awhile. It's much better with low gas prices haha. Get to live in the country and still have a good job. There's people that live in south Baton Rouge only 10 miles away and it takes only 15 minutes less for them to get there in the morning because of traffic

Here maybe, but I bet at the water cooler you say "man that overturned truck at the satsuma exit really killed me this morning."

Please be sure to get those TPS reports in by Friday at 5.

$200 per month in gas savings

if you are filling up your gas tank 8-10 times per month then you are driving entirely too much. Live closer to your job or reduce your discretionary travel.

Again, that's not always an option for some. They might not be able to afford the RE closer to their jobs. Quit being obtuse.

Why is it up to you to decide what is driving too much? I can drive as much as I want.

Fair enough, but don't bitch about the price of gas

You realize a lot of people drive FOR their job, right? It's definitely a big deal to plenty of small business owners.

If you drive for work then you are either directly reimbursed by your company for mileage or you get a large tax write off if you are self employed.

it's still helping your (or the company's) bottom line, possibly in a big way.

Let these folks enjoy low gas prices for now. However, when it rebounds I hope it hits $5.00 a gallon of gas. I hope they recoup their loss. I can't wait, until then I am going to enjoy my new 40 gallon truck.

OK. Lets see... He has been working in the oil field for 35 years??? He should have made some pretty good money during that time... At least enough to pay a house off I would think.... Just goes to show you how some value money... I used to live in Morgan City and worked offshore... Back in 1980 it was crazy buzy. It made it through some bad times and even in the 90's was doing decent, And the last 5 years or so they have boomed... NOW its turned the corner and it relies too much on an industry that can hit rock bottom at anytime.... Morgan City is a nice little town. It will survive..Its Berwick and Patterson area I am worried about...

Yup... The whole town is affected.....When I lived there in 1980-1986 it had like 18,000 people. During the 90's it dropped to like 14,000. No telling what it is now.....But I am sure it will take a hit...A lot of the population in M.C. is temporary though. That's what the oilfield brings ya...

Maybe when all you have is a High School education and you are making 100K a yr don't go around bragging and driving the biggest truck you can buy.

There's a thing called living within one's means which these guys are learning the hard way.

If you would have put 10% back for hard times for 10 yrs and drove maybe a F150, you wouldn't be butt hurt after 3 months.

Believe me, I have many friends in this exact situation right now. I feel for them but come on

Sometimes your job is deliveries. And any business that has to make deliveries is loving the savings at the pump.
