it didn’t gain speed as it dove.
it may suggest they throttled back when it nosed over. that, in my mind, shows they were trying to correct some problem and that it wasn’t a suicide dive.

quote:AirFrance 447. This was initially caused by pitot tubes being blocked by supercooled water and thus resulting in an inability to read air speed. The pilot error came into play only after the plane started stalling from the conditions caused by an extremely rare weather event/equipment failure combo.
Another infamous crash, Air France 427 I believe out of South America, had a situation of complete pilot error. The pilot kept pulling up and stalled the plane completely and jt still took a while to drop out the sky even though it was completely stalled.
To me this sounds more like the Germanwings 9525 pilot suicide based on a sudden plunge from an ostensible cruising altitude. I would be curious to hear from the board pilots on this one.

I know the chances of dying on a flight are astronomically low, but I really dislike flying out of fear of a crash.
I'm no fan of flying. I'm on a flight tomorrow, first time in 2 years.
I always think that the airlines are cutting costs, and that means cutting maintenance on planes, especially during covid.

China Eastern's flight No. 5735 had been traveling at around 30,000 feet when suddenly, just after 0620 GMT, the plane entered a deep dive at its cruising altitude speed of 455 knots (523 mph), according to data from flight-tracking website FlightRadar24.com. The data suggests the plane crashed within a minute and a half of whatever went wrong.
Yeah, I saw Twitter video of the plane going down. It was vertical. Absolutely terrifying for those people.

I forget which one, but one of the times this happened, the pilot who wanted to crash the plane waited for the other to go to the bathroom, and locked himself in the cockpit alone.
Was in Europe somewhere, crashed it into a mountain.
Different protocol than the US where a FA has to be in the cockpit when one pilot steps out. Plus I believe the pilot didn’t have an override to enter the cockpit. Much different standards here.

Yeah not clicking that.
If I watch that I'll never get on another plane

Saw that and then read the news story that "search and rescue operations" were underway.

I think that was a Germanwings or Ryanair flight from 7-8 years ago.

quote:This. I watched that Boeing documentary Downfall. Sickening really that these fricks knew there were problems and covered them up so the stock price wouldn't fall. If a giant like Boeing is doing shady shite like that, then every airline in the world is subject to the same.

You have to be a major a-hole to commit suicide and take over 100 people with you

This is me also. The wife(no pics) and I are flying to Vegas the first week of May and I'm not going to lie, I'm more than a little nervous about it. Like you say, the chances of crashing are low but if it does it ain't likely you're going to survive it

it's definitely gotten worse for me ever since I've had kids, as my greatest fear is not seeing my 3 kids grow up. the absolute worst is when I'm flying with my family.
