Key word, WAS. He then left their yard because they didn’t have him properly controlled. Thank god it wasn’t an old person or a kid he went after

that dog runs off your property and across your neighbors property

That's a few feet across property line, you act like it's 1000 yards. And if a cop can cross jurisdiction lines to pursue, they can be on the other end of it.

The cop wasn’t even yet to your neighbors property

Again, you're acting like this dog ran a marathon to defend his family. Disingenuous argument.

Do you not see that giant blue house? That ain’t the dogs house or property….

You can have your little trained killing machine on your ranch in Texas. But when he steps off your ranch, it ain’t your property to protect. And Texas law will be very clear on that

Nah, just your lack of reading comprehension part of the program.

I said the SITUATION could have been negotiated some other way, moron.

I also said I was just guessing based on years of observation of cop behavior.

EDIT: I also have years of experience reading threads like these about said cop behavior and this looks like a pretty typical response thread. So I'd say based on reading it there's a better than even chance my guess is correct.

When you have people posting stuff like you just posted above, intentionally taking comments out of context to try to justify an appeal to ridicule, that's a good sign that the cop-lovers are out en force.

No kidding. It never occurred to me that I need to pack heat when I walk the neighborhood just in case a dog runs toward me.

Where was the cop and where was the dog when the dog confronted the cop?

A whopping 15 feet. Just tell us you're a white dude for Harris without telling us you're a white dude for Harris. Did you get your vasectomy at the dnc?

Or just be like this cop and run them over too. He killed some lady’s dog flying down the street about a month before this. Determined it was his fault too. Offered $1700 in restitution

This guy being a cop is of ZERO materiality to the story. A dog chasing any person and aggressively pursuing them off property is all that matters here

I’ll argue with you if this guy wasn’t a cop he would actually have MORE SUPPORT, not less. Him being a cop is doing more harm than good for people choosing sides

I kinda thought Harris voters were more inclined to like people attacking pit mutts

That dog should have been a little more scared of that cop and it would still be alive.

It is really simple. If a dog acts like it might attack me on my property I shoot it. I don’t care to become a dog psychologist to try to understand the mind of an aggressive dog. If it is snarling and snapping while approaching aggressively it gets shot. It has worked well for me. So far the score is 4-0 in my favor.

Couple of things… One, this cop literally talked to those two kids with that dog standing right next to their bikes the entire time. The dog didn’t make a peep. He tells the kids something because they get the dog and go towards the house. That cop knows that dog isn’t running neighborhoods mauling people. Then he gets out the car, dog thinks he’s a threat and charges, cop shoots. It may be justifiable but it doesn’t make is suck any less.

Two, how do postal workers, FedEx, UPS and Amazon drivers etc, make it through their day? Why don’t we hear of these people getting murdered by dogs daily?

Of course it does.

As someone else posted earlier, if a private citizen had shot the dog they'd have been arrested for discharging a firearm within city limits or some other such ordinance, and probably facing some other charges to boot. And also probably being sued.

Now THAT might be true, but it's not true that it has no bearing on how the situation played out. I suspect the guy was MUCH more likely to pull his gun and kill the dog than you or I would have been.
