HARMONTOWN, Miss. (WTVA) - While Lafayette County sheriff's deputies were on a routine patrol in Harmontown, they found the body of Alexandria Kostial, 21, of St. Louis, on Saturday night. According to a press release, law enforcement expects that foul play was involved. WMC-TV in Memphis reports she was a student at the University of Mississippi. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Mississippi Crime Lab Crime Scene Unit are actively working the case. Ole Miss police and the Oxford Police Department are assisting. This is a developing story.

UPDATE:
ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- An investigation is underway after the body of a 21-year-old St. Louisan was found in northern Mississippi Saturday morning, authorities said.

Alexandria Kostial’s body was reportedly found near a lake in northern Mississippi, about 30 miles from Oxford and the Ole Miss Campus.

Kostial was a graduate of Lindbergh High School. She was reportedly studying marketing at the college and was set to graduate next year.

Deputies said they suspect found play in Kostial’s death.

My daughter (no pics) had her in some of her classes. I hope that Law Enforcement can find the killer quickly. Prayers for the family.

Is that your mistake or theirs?

Terrible story, nonetheless.

This is awful. It's one of the reasons why I teach my kids to never trust anyone ever.

So sad. Having kids myself now makes these stories really hit home. I used to not really understand people commenting on the death of someone they never knew, but I understand it now. It makes my brain go into overdrive with the worst possible let scenarios for my own children.

I hope her family can find some peace in the days to come.

I wonder what she was doing on that side of the lake, if she chose to go there. To put it plainly, that side sucks worse than Oxford

I hate stuff like this. Girl goes to school to better her life and then ends before it ever begins.

Hopefully, they find the perpetrator quickly. My prayers for this student's family and friends.

For the benefit of everyone on here students/non-locals never venture to that side of Lake Sardis as its way out of the way and no sand beach area. Her body was dumped there due to remote location.

I turkey hunt some not far from where she was found. I can't imagine any reason a college girl from St Louis would ever be around those parts on her own accord

Makes me sick. They need to catch this person ASAP.

More than likely unrelated, my wife (no pics) was followed by an older male a few weeks ago and was able to shake him off by running a light on Jackson. She said he was definitely aggressive and when she called campus police, they sent out every available car to search for him. The threat is real here, even in a small town.

Along with her studies at Ole Miss, Kostial was a seasonal lifeguard at a country club in Sunset Hills, near her hometown, and was a group fitness instructor at the University of Mississippi. She also volunteered as a childcare worker in Cape Town, South Africa, for a month in June 2017 and volunteered in a preschool classroom in Peru in June 2018. Her father, Keith, wrote on Facebook, “Yesterday, Saturday afternoon, we were visited by the Sunset Hills Police who communicated to us that our beautiful dear Alexandria (Ally) Kostial was the victim of a homicide. As of now, it is believed the crime happened in Lafayette County, MS. She had been attending summer school and teaching fitness classes at University of Mississippi, (Ole Miss) In Oxford, Mississippi. She was a 2016 Lindbergh High School graduate. She was only 21. Investigations are ongoing.”
