I avoid cops at all times if possible. Don't even walk close to them. I never do anything wrong but I've found even dealing with the nice ones is a pain in the arse

Probably because the complaint they were responding to was that he was threatening someone with a gun. A cop loses a taser vs gun fight.

The dude never pulled out a weapon. It's one thing if someone is walking around with a rifle, this dude had no chance at getting out his gun and killing 2 cops.
They could have easily stopped him without killing him.

That is true, which is why the "I felt I was in danger" often works for cops. However, that argument is not nearly as effective for John Q. Public.
Cops seem to be held to a lesser standard in the use of lethal force. Try shooting someone who is reaching in his pocket, even at a run of the mill bar fight or just a verbal altercation. You'd be arrested on the spot.

No he doesn't. I don't think he understands these are split second decisions that could result in the cop's death.
I don't fault cops for trying to protect themselves. Not sure how people do.
