The argument will be that the taser only has. limited range and it non-leathal, so they should have let him run or kept distance. They had his information and could have rounded him up later. Total bullshite but that will be the argument.

The counter argument will be that this man was completely out of his mind and drunk and/or high on some serious stuff. To let an armed, violent, unhinged, and chemically compromised individual go running into the night puts the safety and lives of all innocent citizens in the area at risk. The police were required to keep that from happening.

Then when BLM takes a city hostage with rioting or with these autonomous zones, their leadership puts out a list of ridiculous demands, such as: abolish polish, retrial for all AA’s, release all prisoners in for drug charges, affordable housing, free healthcare, and reparations.

What do you suppose the cops should do? Let him run away? He stole the cop's taser and started firing it at him. Who's to say he wouldn't do that to other innocent bystanders?

You just summarized the entire black lives matter movement.

There is statistical evidence to show that based on interactions with police, unarmed black people are not shot disproportionately. However that doesn’t change the fact that the black community legitimately lives in fear of this happening.

We are told to “listen” because the emotional side matters. Why does that only matter for that side of the argument?

Great post!

It is all based on emotion and feelings.

You could just as easily make the supposition that once he fled the cops, he would have ditched the taser and not posed any threat to anyone.

Until the police show up at his home to arrest him and he resists again by blasting the cops in the face from inside

Was the chasing cop unable to use his taser?

If he didn't, who is liable?

I would have favored letting him go, arrest him when he's sober but it's a decision he forced by firing the taser toward cops.

Sometimes you gotta stop defending aggressors.

He had already deployed his taser. The cops had already exhausted multiple less than lethal options.

Pretty sure the cop that fired his sidearm was the one who no longer had his taser. The other cop had deployed his taser which was ineffective. But you already knew that if you watched the video.

Okay... that doesn't change the fact that he still shot at the cop with the taser he stole from said cop. He's still deemed a threat. So what, he throws away the taser and his threat level drops to zero? Yeah, the real world doesn't work like that. At all.
