Bout the farthest thing from the truth you could have possibly assumed.......the loss of sea grass is concerning for many reasons. Do some research son.

never been. I don't see boats parked on sea grass in that picture or video yet she's using it as an excuse for her agenda.

i wonder if this has anything to do with the prohibition against parking a boat on islands because it would interfere with turtles

Considering those grass beds are a huge part of her business, I'd say it isn't just a hippy idea. They are hurting her livelihood.

On another note, the sugar companies in Florida have been allowed to decimate the fisheries down there. It's really quite sad.

Theres no grass there because its been ripped to shreds or it has died over the last handful of years from people doing exactly what's happening in the video...

Top was 5 years ago.....bottom was this weekend. It's an undeniable fact that there is a problem in the Keys with this happening not just in Islamorada.

The Keys are going through massive problems in water quality and loss of sea grass habitat.

It's very concerning and don't know why the "give me a break" emoji?????

Spend much time down there MJ2

Apologies but looking at the images on Google Maps there doesn't appear to be any grass growing on that side of the key anywhere. It all apears on the other side. Are the boats really stopping the growth or is it just an unfavorable habitat?

I love doing this at the sound. Various tides give you clear blue natural mini hot tubs. And large swimming pools of ocean.

It is a big problem in this area, getting somewhat worse in the lower keys. The keys just off the GOM (from Marathon on down to KW) are very popular and get hammered almost every weekend. There is really no way to control overuse of these areas unless they make them off limits and patrol the hell out of them and that ain't gonna happen.

Probably a combination of both......the water quality has deteriorated due to many issues which affects the sea grass. The boats parking there definitely doesn't help and does exacerbate the situation.

It's a fragile eco-system and needs all the help it can get.

These boats are all mortgaged to the hilt as the saying goes. Just like the cars.

The destruction of coral reefs by the thousands of idiot scuba divers and snorklers is a MUCH greater hurt on the fisheries than a few boats on the grass.

I worked with a guy who lived in Islamorada and the parties he described were just like this video. Why oh why did I not take him up on his invite to visit him for a weekend !

Aside from the women, that doesn't look like fun at all.

But I don't a have a clue how to party so it's probably just me.

for the same reason people go to Crab Island in Destin. The tide there is also an amazing natural spectacle to behold and enjoy..

I don't know why anybody would strand their boat on purpose. What if you get bored before the tide comes back and want to move?
