Most efficient (practical) way to board a plane is the Southwest method. The majors went away from loading by rows (back to front) to group number to try to mimic that, in addition to prioritizing overhead bin space to frequent travelers.

The more recent trend of expanding leg room in the front for economy and cutting it in the back rows now means planes are effectively loading front-to-back.

Also, if you pay for a first class ticket, why would you want to rush on to a plane and sit there to wait for all the commoners to board? If I pay for first class, I wanna be last on and first off.

My favorite thing about flying Emirates is this situation right here. The Emirates lounges are designed so that you can walk directly from the lounge to the boarding gate. If you try to go early they will even be like "sir first class passengers don't need to board for another 30 minutes". I'd much rather hangout on the couch in the lounge than rush on and wait for the poors and fatties.

People pay for first class for several reasons... a couple of those reasons include the benefit of being able to board early and get settled and comfortable, have a drink, etc... without having to deal with a mass of idiots who don’t know how to handle their own luggage standing in front of them.

This right here.

Most people in first class don’t pay for The fare, they are upgraded for being the best customers of that airline. The other main reason why passengers with status get to board first is because of the availability of overhead space for their bags, right above their seat. It’s more about the ease of deplaning than it is sitting 10-15 extra minutes while the less frequent passengers are boarding.

Were you on a United flight from Newark to Chicago Friday morning? Because the guy in the row behind me was railing on about this same thing.

I just wish the airlines would enforce the size limits and number of carry on bags.

I’m about to board my plane and take my seat in first class. I’ll ask the flight attendant for you after she gets my drink.

Hardly anyone pays for first class, they get upgraded due to status with airlines or use points

You call that boarding? You haven't truly boarded a plane until you do it in a third world country.

they serve you dinks before the commoners are let on. Or, if it's a middle board, you get on , they close the curtain, then let the commoners on.

Someone is obviously poor and never has never flown first class. Nothing better than getting on first and drinking already while you watch the poors go by
yeah nothing says rich like a crappy drink and staring at asses for 15 minutes.

I want as little time as possible on that plane. Overseas is different. It’s cool to get on board and settle in I first class if you are going to be there for a while anyway

I was on a flight where a middle aged woman was wrestling with a carry on that she was obviously having to struggle to carry. When she went to lift it into the overhead compartment she dropped it on a woman that was sitting on the aisle. The bag fell right onto the top of her head, injuring her head and neck. The flight was delayed as paramedics came and examined her and removed her from the plane.

The worst is women feeling the need to get up every 5 seconds and get something out of the bag. For fricks sake, just bring a backpack or purse or something

Yeah I always have a small backpack and my rolling carryon. Always make sure anything I want to access during the flight is placed in my backpack before I board the plane.

I don't understand why people can't just use more common sense when traveling. At least be more prepared.

The private jets I fly normally have between 8-20 seats so it’s not as relevant. I’m not sure what you’re talking about regarding carry-on; my butler handles my bags.
