Andy Grammer performed there back in the day. Maybe some other semi big names as well. Do season passes for $350. Maybe too cheap to keep the riff raff out though. Make Blue Bayou Water Park Great Again.

Like a silk white beater and a wave cap or the wave pool at Blue Bayou
And I waved fool as I blew by you

$60 Summerlong pass in the mid 2000's was an unbelievable value for middle school Manbeartiger

I honestly thought the WP side of BB was closed last year. I pass by there A LOT and don't ever remember people being there last summer.
Clearly, I'm wrong by responses in this thread, but I legit thought it was closed year.

I don't think it is that old.
Yes, it is that old, I worked there in late summer, 1983. It opened late July or early August in 83 (missing 1/2 the summer). Summer of 84 was the first full summer, I had a blast working there that summer.
The commercial above, that is me going down the Rampage at the 12 sec mark.
I made more per hour in 1984 as a life guard than the life guards were making 5 years ago.
That cheap motherfricker that owns it now, paid his life guards 50% minimum wage, which was $6.60 five years ago. In 1984, I got minimum wage of $3.35 an hour, plus 25¢ an hour for every class I took, so I was making nearly $4.50 an hour with first aid, water rescue, CPR, and wave pool training.
Now they give the employees end of year bonuses for staying all summer, based on the number of hours they worked.
Plus, the employees now have to pay for the training (given at the park). That’s some bullshite there.

Ah well, I’ll just have to drive on to Lacassine when I want a water park

Do the Harrison’s in CCLA still own it? I remember they did in the early 2000’s.

I grew up around BR and lived there for 30 years.
Never once have I gone to Blue Bayou unfortunately.

Used pricing, just that Galaxy roller coaster is worth a ton. Amusement rides are far from cheap
I can't imagine the amount of insurance that place has to carry. If it's lower than $20MM between CGL and their umbrella, I'd be absolutely shocked.

Paul and Liz Harrison never have owned Blue Bayou as far as I know. Sam Haynes has always owned it. Liz is Sam's daughter who married Paul. Paul was the general manager for decades. Paul and Liz's son has been running the show in recent years.

On facebooks the poc’s are rejoicing because apparently blue bayou is racist to them.

Anyone know how long they have been open? I remember going every summer.. Late 80s, early 90s for 4-5 summers in a row.. It was a big deal..

I worked there for a few summers. They're not racist. They don't, however, bend over backwards to kiss some queen's arse because her two year old was too fat to fit on the kiddie ride. You have to consider some of the customers that go through that place.
