Blood test Q- Anticardiolipin Antibody high

Healthy upper 30s guy in shape. Did bloodwork because I have pain below my left clavicle.
Bloodwork came back fine except for my anticardiolipin antibody was 83.
I looked it up and it says it has to do with blood clots and mostly in pregnant women.
The doctor said it was probably a bad sample. Anyone heard of this being high and what the symptoms are?

General rule in medicine—don’t do a test if you’re not going to do anything with the results. So that begs the question, why did your doctor take the test to begin with? He knew there was a possibility it would come back elevated.

Doctors do tests and then nothing with them all the time. Elevated blood pressure at a PCP is an automatic EKG. Most of the time the EKG comes back normal. And nothing is done in regards to the EKG. It's a good thing, because otherwise it's heart and cardiovascular disease.

Idk what anti-cardiolipin antibody will show for arthritis. Do a rheumatoid factor and CCP for RA, can also do CRP and ESR for inflammation and if you’re worried it may be a psoariatic arthritis, you can throw in a HLAB27. Otherwise imaging and clinical suspicion for diagnosis of OA.

I’ve never ordered an EKG because someone had a high blood pressure. My point is don’t order a test unless you’re prepared to do something about it if it comes back positive. Obviously it can come back negative and you can rule something out and then “not do anything” with it.

You should have your clavicles removed as a precaution.
