That doesn't work anymore. Have you been to Perkins Rowe theater lately? The nicer the area, the more they like to visit and tear it up because tearing already torn up shite isn't any fun

In my experience AMC does not give out refunds. They will give a voucher to see another movie but they won't give you your money back.

Going form personal experience, I've been at two different AMC theaters when they had to clear the theater mid movie (fire alarm pulled & broken projector) and both times they refused to do anything other give a ticket to see a movie at a different time.

Right, that's what I'm saying. AMC should've offered refunds to complaining customers when they complained. And then either fix the systems or stop advertising them. Seems simple enough.

I mean, a simple refund probably could've resolved this

Not that simple when you start promoting accommodations for the disabled in exchange for money

I meant offer refunds at the outset when a customer complained.

I thought so until I read the article. They don't seem to be making a money grab but trying to get AMC to maintain the equipment they advertise for blind people.

They wrote a letter and AMC just ignored it so they said "hey we'll sue and they can't ignore that"

You're an idiot. They're not getting the service they paid for - a service the movie theater specifically advertises.

You're an idiot if you think resolution to this issue calls for a class action law suit.

Scott Blanks and his co-plaintiffs could have resolved this with his local AMC that screwed him out of the service he paid for and solved the issue without filing a law suit.

I paid for a product at a local carry our restaurant the other night and when I got home an item paid for was not in the bag. I called the restaurant and they refunded the money.

In your feeble SJW mind I should have not settled with the restaurant and I should have contacted everyone in the surrounding area that may have paid for a product from this place that they didn't receive and file a class action law suit.

He never got the same experience and he never will. Movies are a visual experience. There's no way around that. I'm extremely allergic to peanuts, but i accept I'll never be able to eat a Reese's cup, and I don't expect them to make a special version for people like me

All these entitled fricks need to grow up

As long as AMC didn't advertise their disability equipment as 100% problem free, these blind bats have no leg to stand on.

Not sure when AMC implemented this but if it was in the past few years they messed up by not just making a smartphone app. Lot easier to maintain software than both software and hardware.

How do you feel when you don't get what you pay for?

Let's say Reese's did make a peanut free option, and you ate that and then you went in to anaphylactic shock. Would you feel a lawsuit was justified then?

Did they give proper notification, such as "May contain peanuts" as most companies do in that situation? In this guy's case, that would be "audio description service does not provide the same experience as visually watching the movie"

If he kept making his complaints with nothing being done to fix the problem what else is he supposed to do?

The complaint is not that he can't get the exact same theater experience as a person who can see.

The complaint is that the advertised audio equipment provided to the visually impaired was constantly faulty and that the employees were not properly trained to fix any potential issues with it.

You can read the actual complaint as its linked in the article. Here is a portion of it.

quote:

To use audio description at the movies, a blind individual wears a headset and listens to an audio description track that contains narration of the visual elements of the film that is synchronized with the movie. Movie studios create the audio description tracks and provide them to AMC and other theaters.
Without audio description, blind individuals watching a movie do not know what is happening in scenes without dialogue and may misunderstand the meaning of other scenes. Thus, audio description is essential for blind viewers to understand movies.

AMC exhibits movies in its theaters, providing movie-going experiences to millions of individuals each year, but fails to make its services accessible to blind individuals by providing the correct, functioning audio description equipment. Although AMC claims to provide audio description services for blind patrons at many of its theaters, effective audio description services are seldom available. AMC fails to adequately maintain the equipment for playing audio description, fails to adequately train its staff on maintenance, set-up, and use of the equipment, and fails to adequately keep equipment charged and properly programmed. Plaintiffs’ counsel have received reports of over 50 instances in which blind and low vision persons have experienced difficulty and/or been unable to use the audio description technology at AMC theaters due to Defendants’ failure to maintain and train staff on use of the equipment.

I contact said establishment and try to rectify the situation with the the person in charge. If they continue to have bad business practices I take my business elsewhere. I don't file a law suit because I was "wronged".

Every time I buy a product that doesn't live up to it's advertising, I just sue them for all they're worth.

Really, I just ask for a refund.

That's also false. Actually, I just take the loss and then piss and moan about it on an Internet message board.
