Blackjack Players...

My wife and I were playing $25 pitch at Paragon Friday night. It was only us two and one other player. I was playing 3rd base. Dealer deals the cards and she has a King showing. She checks her hand under the mirror and proceeds with the hand. 1st player draws to 18 and stands. My wife draws to 17 and stands. I draw to a 21. Dealer flips over her card to reveal a Blackjack, which she says “my bad...I didn’t see it”. I ask for the pit boss and she comes over. Dealer explains to the pit boss that she didn’t see her blackjack. Pit boss says “it doesn’t matter...blackjack is blackjack” and tells dealer to collect our chips. I argued that it should be a re-deal and she tells dealer to burn the rest of the deck and reshuffle! We colored up our chips and left. Anyone ever had this happen and what was the outcome?

Last time that happened I split the screen door and buttered the toast when the spades stayed hot. Pretty decent payday that day lol.

It sucks but only way it would have changed anything is if someone split or double downed. Even if someone kept drawing to 21 they would have lost
Real question is how the hell did the dealer miss that?!?

A few years ago I was playing double deck blackjack. The last hand had a ton of double downs and splits. The dealer ran out of cards and had like 15. The casino had to call a manager that was not there to find out what to do. All bets ending up pushing. I was not happy about it.

Dealer was an elderly lady who couldn’t even stand up straight. She was leaning so much over while dealing that her tits were touching the chip rack!
When the pit boss said take our money, they were gonna proceed with the next hand. I told them that because she didn’t see her own blackjack, she wasted 5 cards when we took hits. That’s when the pit boss said end of shoe....

I see nothing wrong here. The dealer is required to offer insurance if the card facing up is an ace. But a regular paint card doesn't require any action at all on the dealer's part.
The pit boss was right.

How do you figure? Everywhere else that I’ve played, dealer error resulted in a push...

He was and ending the shoe was the right move too since cards had been dealt. I’ve been in a similar situation at GN in LC and the pit boss cancelled the hand so everyone’s bets were pulled back. It was done more to recognize the error.

First off, it was not an Ace showing. It was a King. Second, that’s why the dealer has a mirror above the chip rack. They are required to check for an Ace anytime they have a face card or 10 showing. If there’s an Ace, it is a Blackjack and the hand is over.

Exactly so.
The dealer shouldn't have checked the mirror, that should only be done if the ace is showing. That said, there's no harm in it in this case since the players can't buy insurance anyway.

That’s exactly what I’ve experienced in other casinos too. But a dealer error shouldn’t result in all the players to lose the hand.

Right, that was my point. The fact that the King was showing means it doesn't alter the play.

If that's how that particular casino plays, so be it. Most places they only have to check if the Ace is up.
Regardless, if it had no impact on the decisions made during the hand, none of this matters.

What error?
Does the casino offer insurance in case the King is face up? If not, there's no impact at all, you were going to lose the hand anyway.

Wrong. Most places check on 10s/face cards also.

I been to my fair share of casinos but never Paragon. They only check with the ace up. I've drawn to 21 several times only to be beaten with an ace in the hole.
I think that's a common practice in the casinos. At least the ones I've been in.

So, do you ever recall a hand that you played that the dealer has a face card or a 10 showing and plays out the hands only to flip up a blackjack at the end? Please tell me because that has never happened to me....
