Oh I agree. Cops are never held to the same standard as citizens. Must be nice to put on a magical costume have a magical ceremony and then be able to violate people's rights without repercussion. The cops need to be retrained and a lot cases fired and charged. In fact, competition would hopefully lead to better policing, but I'll be 500 years old before the government ever allows free enterprise and competition when it comes to policing, teaching or SS, etc. The city a lot of times doesn't punish cops so victims have to sue. That's their only recourse because voter refuse to demand actual change and require more accountability from politicians and cops. You guys voted for this shite. Enjoy the consequences. I'm not shocked racist Joe hired him in Arizona. He couldn't handle the stress of his job and took it out on this kid. I hope the city loses $5 million.

Good. If only we held cops to the same standard as Doctors, engineers, etc, instead of only requiring a HS diploma.

He probably made a mistake but calling it a $5 million dollar mistake is laughable.

Because it's teaching kids at an early age that disobeying law enforcement and running from the police could win you $5 million.

I don't know why but the combination of that cop on top of her back pointing and seeing Daffy Duck masturbate out the corner of my eye just made me bust out laughing in my office.

There are two issues going on in this thread. Those justifying the cops' actions and attacking the girl's role in the incident. Which is laughably wrong. And those criticizing the idea of a $5m judgment for what happened. Which is pretty reasonable.

Let's be real- if she was given $5M she'd be broke in two years.

Legitimate question, not trolling... are monetary settlements or awards that are a result of a law suit a public entity tax free or treated as income/bonus etc.?

Her parents (or legal guardians) probably found their way into McKinney by using this exact strategy.

Do they even live in the great city of McKinney?

I think the entire issue was because they were going to a swimming pool in a gated community that they did not live in, so i'm not sure where they actually live.

The criticism is reasonable. This is how the sentence structure is set up. In case that wasn't clear to you.
