Historically black neighborhood. (What the hell does this even mean)
Austin was once a very segregated city. You either lived west of 35 or east of i35. This particular neighborhood is east

So what are the graduation rates?

I think that I have definitely spotted the problem.

Never knew there was an HBCU in Austin. Honestly, there’s not many black people at all here. Phleugerville? Feel all the black folk go there.

I'm bringing this picture up once again because it sort of proves a point of mine.
I have maintained all along that the next US civil war will be racial. And White Liberals think that they will get a free pass because they have a "D" on their voter registration card.
This story just supports my theory that when the bullets fly, they will not.

I’m pretty sure I rented the guest suite of this house on 2018 when my wife and I went to Austin to get married.
Nice house, but the street was sketchy AF. It reminds me of the neighborhood in Barbarian in hindsight.

One of my most controversial opinions is that inner cities in convenient locations to local jobs should be the target of redevelopment and reinvestment by people who are priced out of higher end neighborhoods.
Especially the single family areas where the current owners/occupants are aging out. Turnover should go to younger people who invest in the place and are willing to take the risk in exchange for affordable housing.
If we figure out the crime issue, we solve the housing crisis. Generally more people willing to call police in a neighborhood are the ones that improve a neighborhood. Some of y'all make fun of the hipsters and the LGBTQ types for living in these transitioning neighborhoods, but I think they are providing a public service by gentrifying and then existing in those places without contributing to the crime problem. In fact that culture should be encouraged in places like Baton Rouge or Houston more than it is. And we should absolutely cheer them on when they move into grandpa's old house for a few years.
Some of the neighborhoods most convenient to the regional job centers were developed in the mid 20th century with real infrastructure (street connectivity, street lights, curb/gutter, sidewalks, etc.). They are prime for takeover when newer housing just isn't available or is too expensive.
Gentrification increases the property tax revenue, reduces the amount of public services consumed (specifically police, schools, and fire), and it occurs on a street grid that's already been laid out and developed for decades. It should be part of the natural cycle.
And it should be encouraged on the commercial side too. Local businesses make the neighborhood cool. Chains move in. Local businesses move to the next neighborhood. Rinse and repeat. All signs of a healthy city.

Give her 10 years and either she's in a suburban neighborhood voting republican or the neighborhood she's in will be full of others like her - now middle age with 1-2 kids and voting the way most young white Texas moms do.
Reality has a way of influencing most people. And she's getting a bite of a reality sandwich right now.

Was that neighborhood originally black?
Honestly I don't see how any of this matters. Nobody is sensitive towards hispanic or white neighborhoods when other races move in. This is absolutely something that deserves cultural reciprocity.
We don't segregate neighborhoods by race. If you want a house that's for sale, buy the damn thing. Your race or the neighbor's race shouldn't matter. That's how this should play out.

I love it when White Liberals introduce themselves to the Community & it doesn’t turn out how they expect it to. They thought they knew what was best for these people…….
Reminds me of a video that was out there a handful of years ago (before AI effect, so it was legit). Some white college students were in a dorm room or apartment filming a Summer of Love protest.
Someone threw a rock through one of their windows and the immediate response from the college guys was: "We're on your side!"

i was at a wedding on a pretty exclusive island community across "the sound" in Seattle a few years back. SO much LGBTQ+ and Black Lives Matter paraphernalia on the houses and the businesses all across the island. and this wedding, i shite you not, was like Get Out. the only black people i saw the entire weekend were the wedding DJ and his son. it was creepy, almost like they were on display. their entire act at the reception was like this shuckin' and jivin' ebonics deal to make the rich white people feel inclusive. i was one of the only people at the wedding who actually went over and spoke to them (and i kept tipping them to play Cash Money Millionaires songs)

The white folks are dumb. But not as dumb as a 25% graduation rate.

There are no negatives to this story whatsoever, frick all of them.
I do wonder, if deep down, those white folks are feeling a sense of regret for their political beliefs.
