Either they cheated or they didn't. Doesn't seem like you'd need 9 weeks to determine this if the answers are identical.

College athletes get flagged all the time with an increase that high.

o her first score was around 900?
Should’ve just looked for a trade school.
Maybe she was holding back explosive diarrhea on her first attempt.
It happens, and will bring your score down. Believe me.

I imagine they could ask her to take the test again by herself and if she gets anywhere close to the new score they would consider it legit.

9 weeks later and she still doesn't have the results? Not sure why she hired a civil rights lawyer, but she was smart to get a lawyer involved

Everything is fricking racist

Have her take it again? Seems pretty easy. Maybe she's right

The process was supposed to take up to 6 weeks, not well over 6 weeks. It seems like a big scholarship is on the line for her, but I guess she can just go frick herself while they drag their feet making a decision

Right. She has some valid complaints

apparently the score increase wasn't the only reason they accused her of cheating, it was something about her having similar answers to students near her or something like that. A 300+ improvement isn't that big a deal if you went in to the first test cold and studied hard for the 2nd test. I taught standardized test prep for many years and had students get larger gains than this.

An “honors” student scores 900??? Her school system failed her miserably

Athletes have the benefit of cherry picking the highest scores from sections across different test sessions. A borderline student athlete will cram for a specific section each of the 3 or 4 times they take it. Rest of us that aren't as physically talented must do well on all sections each time.

I'm guessing because she will probably get some scholarship money awarded to her that could otherwise be used on someone else.

There's a difference between "having a bad day" and scoring a 900 SAT. Pretty sure you get 800 for writing your name.
If this kid was really a "honor student" then her school isn't making her do a damn thing for her grades. She'd probably have done better if she wasn't an "honor student" and went to a school with anything resembling expectations.

That's quite the strategy if she did in fact cheat. Makes me lean toward believing her.
Pulling the race card defense is usually the first arrow out of the quiver

Either way the truth will find a way of revealing itself. So what if she gets a high score. It's not like a high SAT score dictates the rest of your life. Got to pick your battles.
Because she would take someone else's spot and/or potential scholarship money as well. If she is going to attend a highly selective school, that spot alone is worth more than the scholarship to another potential student.
